Lost Planet 2 Announcement Trailer

Hot on the heels of Resident Evil 5, it looks like Capcom has another big release in store sometime in the near future- Lost Planet 2. While I didn’t get to play much of the first one, it definitely had some promise for a new franchise, and the graphics were pretty incredible to boot. It looks like the environments are going to be different, the visuals are updated, and there even seems to be co-op gameplay. Check out the new trailer for lots of cool footage. Who played the first one? How was it?

GamerSushi Impressions: Killzone 2 Demo

killzone2boxart2am9So I imagine you guys are all aware of this little title called Killzone 2? Yeah, thought so. The 360 fanboys hate it already and the PS3 fanboys are ready to canonize it, so I thought I would take a look at it myself. Having read dozens of reviews of the game already, I had a good idea of what to expect and my main complaint was that the demo was really too short to make a firm judgment about anything. This preview will also answer some things I have seen pop up online regarding the demo and the game itself.

Resident Evil 5 Demo is Online!

That’s right, the long awaited demo for the much-anticipated Resident Evil 5 is now online for the XBox 360. The best part? You can even play some co-op with a friend, and slay crazed villagers together! In honor of this totally awesome event, here’s a sweet video of Resident Evil 5 demo co-op play. I still can’t get over these graphics. They make my heart all a flutter.

EDIT: My bad dudes! This is currently available for the XBox 360, but it won’t hit PSN until next week.

Leaked Star Wars Battlefront 3 Footage

Some footage from an internal meetnig at Free Radical has made its way to the intertubes today, given the company’s recent shut-down. In it? Gameplay videos from Star Wars Battlefront 3. Even from the grainy footage, you can tell that this game was going to be a blast.

It’s sad, really. Let’s hope this thing finds a way to get released. It looks fun!

Mass Effect 2 Struts Its Stuff at GDC 09

masseffectEvery generation has its underrated games. The ones that get overlooked, missed and perhaps swallowed in the wake of the hype of other gaming behemoths. I feel like one of those games for this generation has to be Mass Effect, which presented a level of story and cinematic presentation that I feel was unprecedented and largely unnoticed when it dropped.

Well, the sequel should hopefully be an even better endeavor, and it sounds like we’re getting our first look in just a couple of months at GDC in March. Apparently, some Bioware dudes are going to be there showing off some of the level creation techniques they’re using for the second game, having addressed some issues that they had the first time around.

There’s a lot of other technical mumbo jumbo in there that I couldn’t discern, but who cares? I’m pumped about finally getting some Mass Effect 2 news! Who’s with me?

The Star Wars Battlefront III That Could Have Been

battlefrontI loved me some Star Wars: Battlefront II. Seriously. I played the junk out of that game online with some friends of mine. We would often just square off against an army of bots, playing as heroes, grunts and whatever else held our fancy to enjoy us some killing, Star Wars style. I think it’s one of my favorite games of last gen, and have been dying for a sequel.

Well, apparently, Free Radical was working on one. I say was with such emphasis because Free Radical just closed up shop in the last couple of weeks. The game has now passed on to Rebellion, so it’s still making its rounds, but recently some SW Battlefront III screenshots have made their way to the intertubes of some of the models being worked on. Granted, these are Free Radical’s designs and are from a year or so ago, but I find it pretty interesting.

Check them out, as some of them are rather fancy. Did any of you guys play Star Wars Battlefront at all? Thoughts?

Resident Evil 5- Gameplay in the Refinery

Resident Evil 5 might have some of the best graphics we’ll see this gen. Seriously, the level of detail, the crisp motion blur, all of it comes together to form a stunning picture… of incredible zombie violence. And this is always a good thing. It’s nice to see some more gameplay footage, and not just trailers.

Anybody else excited about this?

Review: Gears of War 2

A few years ago, Epic introduced us to the wonderful world of Sera, and its monstrous inhabitants, both human and locust alike. Gears of War was a flagship title for the XBox 360, quickly becoming THE reason to own Microsoft’s next-gen system, and it made its mark in a rather commanding fashion.

For me, Gears of War was the first and biggest “next-gen” experience I’ve felt when playing a game, where I had a moment that made me say “Wow… this is the next gen”. The co-op play, the graphics, the score, everything about it came together to create an experience that was part Predator, part Aliens, part video game and all awesome.

So how does the sequel fare?

The Mass Effect 2 Wish List

Christmas is the time of year for wish lists. It’s often fun to ruminate on the things you’d like the most, put them all down, and hope that perhaps, you’ll get all those things you desire. This is no different for video games, particularly when we start talking about sequels.

The guys over at AtomicGamer have done just that in regards to Mass Effect 2, creating a wish list for the things that they would like to see in the follow-up to Bioware’s sprawling space opera RPG. The list includes all kinds of goodies like more alien races, visiting alien home planets, more tactical combat, unique weaponry, less linear storytelling and then some.

Personally, I’d love to see more consequences for the things that you choose in the game, as well as better sidequests with more variety. I simply loved the dialogue points, and I’d like to have even more to do and more people to interact with in such a brilliantly sculpted universe. What about you guys? What do you want to see from Mass Effect 2?

5 Features That More Shooters Need

Shooters, shooters, shooters. Gaming is full of them these days. I mean, one has to look no further than this year’s gaming line-up of heavy hitters and system sellers like Call of Duty: World at War, Resistance 2, FarCry 2, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Mirrors Edge, Quantum of Solace and the like to see that shooters have replaced the titles of old.

With all of these titles coming out, it’s easy to start wanting a little more from the genre. At this point, we’ve slaughtered so many imps in Doom and Nazis in Wolfenstein 3-D that we kind of know what to expect.

Gears of War 2 Opening Cinematic

Since I did it for Left 4 Dead, I couldn’t help but post the opening cinematic for Gears of War 2. From the looks of it, this game is way more cinmea-riffic than the first one, which only had a small amount of cutscenes. I’m loving the tone, and the crazy battle sequences set up the game to be pretty huge and dark. Loving it. I might pee a little when I play. But only a little.

Little Big Planet as a Shooter

At some point, the Internet will stop going crazy over LittleBigPlanet levels, but I admit, that day is not today. I’m still fascinated by what people can do in this game, and it always seems to grow the more people get their hands around the game and some of its tools. This next level is a re-creation of the first level of Gradius, the side-scrolling space shooter. I really can’t believe it.

I caved and bought this game over the weekend and so far I love it. How many of you guys have played it?

Gears of War 2 Reviews Rolling In

As many of you know, Gears of War 2 finally hits this Friday, November 7th. I am actually taking off work for the day, not just for the release, but let’s be honest, it played a big part of it. The exciting thing is that Microsoft has now lifted the embargo on reviews of the game, so they’re starting to pour in like crazy.

Videogaming247 has put together a list of some of the reviews, and I couldn’t help but glance at a couple of them. All told, Gears of War 2 sounds awesome, and is longer, deeper and more epic than the original. I can’t wait. GOWFans also has 50 new high-res screenshots.

Gears of War 2: Blockbuster Entertainment

Here’s a new Gears of War 2 Dev Diary, this time going over Epic’s process of making the Gears of War series as huge blockbusters, with a wacky cast, huge score, epic action, etc. Personally, when I played the first Gears of War, I felt like I was playing Predator or Aliens, the action was so huge and the score was so cinematic. Hopefully they keep that same pace up in Gears of War 2 and then some.

Dead Space: Protagonist Video

Who here has gotten to play Dead Space? I’m still waiting for it to get to me in the mail with GameFly. I’m not always into survival games (on the count of me acting like a wuss), but I’m really curious to see this one, because of the cool sci fi setting. I loved this new video about the main character.

Anyone played it yet?

Gears of War 2 Dev Diary: Pixels and Such

A new Gears of War 2 diary is out, this one detailing the design and look of the game. To be honest, seeing this game in motion at PAX, I really think that graphically the single player campaign blows the first GoW completely out of the water. GoW was the first game that I played on this gen that made me say “NOW we’re in the next gen”, and Gears of War 2 might shatter all of that.

Massive Gears of War 2 Impressions

Kotaku has posted a couple of articles detailing their Gears of War 2 impressions in a more in-depth way. Up until now, people have avoided things such as spoilers and the like, but it seems that lips are loosening and keyboards are typing away.

The two articles in question are about GoW 2’s campaign and GoW 2’s Horde Mode. They’re definitely great reads, comparing the second game’s campaign to Empire Strikes Back (which is kind of awesome), and calling Horde Mode the brightest spot of the game’s multiplayer. If you liked the multiplayer in the first, that’s definitely good news.

Who else is getting feverish over GoW 2?

Dead Space Reviews Trickling In

For those of you interested in Dead Space and its crazy limb dismembering gameplay (in space no less!), some reviews are starting to drop in for the game’s release, which happens to be today.

So far, the reviews are really solid, ranging right around the B+ scale from several reviewers including IGN, 1Up and GameSpot. The consensus? Dead Space is the start of a great new franchise and is a suspenseful and chilling sci-fi tale with incredible audio and visual design that just happens to be a tad repetitive.

Not bad at all for the start of the holiday game barrage. Go check out the reviews if you’ve been considering this game.

Dead Space: Blood and Gore

More crazy videos out about Dead Space, this one highlighting the blood and gore you’ll be seeing when you play this game later this week. Watching these videos makes me want to play more and more, but like I’ve said before, I’m a little girl when it comes to scary games.

TGS: Resident Evil 5 Trailer

I’ve got to be honest, I’ve never been a big slobbering fan over the Resident Evil series, but RE5 is starting to gather my interest more and more. I know RE4 was great and all, it’s just nothing I had seen from this new game ever really seemed to grab me.

Plus, I’m a coward and zombie games are scary. Sue me. Here’s a new trailer for Resident Evil 5 from the Tokyo Game Show, and it’s looking pretty slick. There actually seems to be much more of a story, too. So- who’s excited about this game?
