GamerSushi is on Summer Break

destiny

Hey Sushians,

As you might have noticed, things have gotten a mite quiet ’round these parts. That’s because GamerSushi as a whole is on Summer break.

I know, traditionally we only stop The GamerSushi Show during the hotter months, but this year real life has caught up with us hard. Nick is even building things (he got bit by a Dad)!

This also corresponds with the slower schedule of releases in the Summer, with nothing of real note coming out until September 9, when Destiny hits. So, what are you guys doing to occupy your Summer?

  1. Man is it just me, or has there not been a single “wow factor” game since the Last of Us? I mean seriously, the last year has just been atrocious for games. With the exception of Telltale’s offerings, I couldn’t tell you of a single game that’s come out within the last year that has stuck with me. In all of 2014, I’ve probably played a cumulative of 80 hours of games (if that), which is insane for me. Luckily Fall looks to change that with Destiny, Evolve, Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age, perhaps CoD, and the Master Chief Collection. But man, it’s been a long road to get there.

  2. I didn’t even think about it before now, but I totally know what you mean. Even Mario Kart 8, my favorite game of the year so far, hasn’t completely blown me away. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very, very good Mario Kart game, but the only reason it’s my GOTY front-runner is because of its lack of competition.

  3. A lot of playing games over and a lot of Twitch. I even watched Anthony stream some of The Last of Us a day or two ago. I don’t know if you guys played Wolfenstein: The New Order or not but there was a permanent smile on my face while playing through that game.

  4. I’ve been playing Titanfall and Fallout 1 inbetween exercise and being productive (about damn time). I haven’t been active here in a while, but I’ve still been having healthy meals of GamerSushi by catching up on old GS Show podcast episodes whilst doing stuff.

Titanfall speaks to my love of robotics & mecha, sci-fi, and parkour. Can’t get enough of it. Fallout 1 is also really interesting, I decided to play it for the first time recently after finishing Fallout: New Vegas. You can tell it’s a 90’s game in how its atmosphere and immersion separates it from the modern Fallout games. Whilst I love Fallout 3 and Vegas Fallout 1 has a more serious, survival vibe that grabs my attention. Also after 5 minutes into the game and bumping into and getting wasted by a group of radscorpions you know this game ain’t screwing around.

So that’s what I’ve been up to. Hope the GS team and everyone else is having a good summer.

  5. Most of my summer has been consumed by work, but I’ve sunk myself into some more Team Fortress 2. I’ve also played some rounds here and there of Red Orchestra 2’s multiplayer with some friends and it’s actually quite fun! I also played massive amounts of the Destiny Beta when it happened and it only further increased my excitement for it’s full release. Generally it’s been a fairly decent summer and I can’t wait for the fall/winter swing for new content to release. I hope everybody else has been enjoying their summer as well.

    1. How was the Destiny Beta? I haven’t been following Destiny much, but the parts I’ve seen look interesting. I plan to check it out if it comes out on PC.

  6. I’ve been playing a fair bit of CS:Go’s competitive and I also rented a Minecraft Realms server for 6 months, which has rekindled my love for spelunking. My machine is starting to really show it’s age, so I haven’t been able to jump into Wolfenstein. Instead I’m finally going back through some Summer Sale games like Broken Age and Transistor.
