The GamerSushi Show, Ep 73: Rinkydink Curdlesnoot

the gamersushi show ep 73

Aaaand…we’re back. After our traditional Summer break we return to the mics to bring you the latest installment of the GamerSushi Show where we talked about how much we missed eachother. Not really, it’s mostly dick jokes, video games and the Benedict Cumberbatch name-generator, which is where I got the title for this episode.

When we recorded the cast last Wednesday, I had just come back from PAX, so I give an in-depth breakdown of what I saw and played. Well, more accurately I have to be gentle lead through the discussion, but we all know I’m bad at just talking about stuff.

Seeing as how we’re back, you should definitely listen to the cast, rate the cast, and enjoy the cast. We’re back on the regular schedule, more or less, so we’ll see you next week!

  1. Oh man, you don’t know how good it is to know you’re back! Great cast as always guys! I’m excited for the ones to come, especially when next gen hits!

  2. So glad the cast is finally back. A few things about what was discussed:

-Dark Souls. Ughhhh. I really enjoyed my time with the game until around Anor Londo (approximately 3/4 through). Then I hit a wall. I couldn’t put my finger on why I had lost the urge to play it, until Anthony used the perfect word: the game is wearying. There is no such thing as coming off of a hard day at work and relaxing with Dark Souls. Every second you are playing the game, you must be on constant alert, and there is no down time. Eventually this gets kind of old (at least for me), and I found myself not wanting to return to it.

-Complaints about the Xbox “180”. While you guys make good points about how it seems like Microsoft gave up, I don’t think they had a choice. Their backlash wasn’t like the people the complain about Apple announcements. What occurred after E3 was the entire internet calling for Microsoft’s head with torches and pitchforks in hand. And it was non stop for weeks. And with the PS4 launching at the same time the One is, Microsoft could not afford to have this overwhelming sense of negativity looming over their system. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s their own damn fault with their god awful messaging, but still, they had to dig themselves out of that hole as quickly as possible. And since the switch they’ve mentioned that they are looking into ways to make some of the old features, like family sharing, to make a comeback, so we’ll just have to see.

-Saints Row. Just started playing this in the last few days, and wow is it awesome. So many great references (Blade Runner pistol!) coupled with stupid fun gameplay and a hilarious story has me hooked. We need more games like this. Also Keith David as the Vice President is pure genius. His roles as the Arbiter and Admiral Anderson have cemented him as one of my all time favorite actors, so I get a stupid smile on my face every time he does anything in the game.

  3. I actually made it to the final boss in Dark Souls earlier today. Didn’t manage to beat him yet, but once I do I think I’ll definitely have gotten more than my money’s worth out of the game (since I got it during the summer sale). I’ll also definitely be done playing after over 60 hours of game time.

I don’t know if I’d agree with “wearying”, though. In a lot of ways, Dark Souls is all about your mindset. If you go into it expecting to be exhausted and pissed off every time you lose souls, it’ll be a self-fulfilling prophecy. After a certain point I was only really on edge whenever I reversed hollowing to kindle a bonfire and inevitably got invaded. I hate PvP.

Also, frankly, grinding for levels is crucial around that point in the game. Did you go to the Painted World of Ariamas? If not, look it up. It’s tough at first, but once you open all the shortcuts, it’s one of the best places in the game to get souls and level up quickly – I think I gained 10+ levels before I beat the boss there.

Just don’t attack the boss unless you’re absolutely ready – you can leave the area without attacking her and come back later.

  4. I did indeed go to the Painted World, and beat the boss there. I stopped in Anor Londo right before the final bosses there. I think seeing Anthony complain about them a lot on Twitter discouraged me lol.

  5. Eh, I beat Ormstein and Smough after only a few tries. It definitely helped that I had a leveled-up Black Knight Sword. That baby has been my go-to weapon.

  6. Glad to have you guys back doing the cast again, I always enjoy listening on my way to work.

Good points as always, I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the launch lineups for the new consoles in the next one.

  7. Glad to have you guys back, loved hearing about PAX. I can’t wait for Titanfall. Curious to see what you guys have to say about the Steam “Family Sharing” plan announced today!
