The GamerSushi Power Rankings: August 2013

Dark Souls

Another month, another update to the rankings. This time, we’re seeing not only movement in our backlogs, but movement in a few games that we managed to stick with from one month to the next. Imagine that!

Before the fall blitz officially starts, the GamerSushi crew is busy plowing through Steam Summer Sale games, new releases like The Last of Us, and bitten by old favorites like Dark Souls, Civilization V and Skyrim. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg before we see Saint’s Row IV, Grand Theft Auto V and the bevy of titles releasing just in time for the launch of the next gen — no doubt this list will be in true chaos at that point.

So, without further ado, here are our top 10 games played of the past month. What do you guys think of this list? Are you playing any of these, and how would you rank them? Go!

1 Company of Heroes 2 +3 Company of Heroes 2
It’s part Battlefield, part RTS and all kinds of fun in 3 v 3. Just keep those soldiers warm.
2 Dark Souls Dark Souls
Anthony and Jeff are gluttons for punishment, and Dark Souls knows how to serve it alongside great fun.
3 The Last of Us -2 The Last of Us
Some occasionally wonky stealth drops this one down a bit, but the game’s ending is one that will stick with you for months.
4 Civilization V Civilization V
This is one of those games that stays good, no matter how long of a break you take from it. Time to mount your armies, friends.
5 Animal Crossing: New Leaf -1 Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Some aren’t in the Animal Crossing business, they’re in the empire business. And Assville is the seat of their power.
6 Gunpoint Gunpoint
A side-scrolling stealth/heist game with a fun jumping mechanic and some satisfying puzzles.
7 Dust: An Elysian Tail Dust: An Elysian Tail
Hey, imagine Castlevania, but with animals and rad art. Or furries.
8 Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
So Anthony’s playing this. Because it’s fun, apparently. Swing away, bro.
9 Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Old west legends, big shootouts, fun gunplay. Another hero of the Steam sale.
10 Skyrim -1 Skyrim
Can we just get Elder Scrolls VI already?

  1. I’ve been really sinking my teeth into Dark Souls lately (I’m in Anor Londo). Man that is the most frustrating/rewarding game ever. My blood pressure doesn’t appreciate it, but man it is something when you finish an area.
