Steam Summer Sale 2013: List the Damages

steam summer sale 2013

Daily Deals! Community’s Choice! Flash Sales! Cards! What they heck do they all have in common? Why, the Steam Summer Sale, of course!

Ever since July 11, gamers have been snapping up ridiculous deals and collect cards (or complaining about the deals on the forums and Facebook). Personally, I haven’t picked up anything this year except for Call of Juarez: Gunslinger which was graciously gifted to me by Editormans Eddy Rivas.

Now that the Summer Sale is nearing completion, it’s time to look back and realize that you’ve bought dozens of games that you’ll probably never play. What have you picked up during the sale? Can anyone tell me what cards are for? Go!

  1. I got pretty much everything i wanted but never got when they were released: Bioshock Infiinte, Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3, Metro Last Light, and a few smaller games.

  2. Lucky I went into this one with a $30 gift card balance so that eased the pain, but I still ended up dropping some cash.

Darks Souls, Fallout: New Vegas, Metro: Last Light, Mirror’s Edge, Monaco, Rayman Origins, and XCOM.

That’s quite a few games, and it came at a time when my backlog was nice and empty. I plan on tackling each game one at a time (almost finished with XCOM, which I’m loving) so hopefully I’ll make a dent before Splinter Cell comes out and takes over my life.

  3. I’ve bought around 15 games so far, but mostly small games I’ve been waiting to go on sale. Monaco, Gunpoint, The Swapper, Ace of Spades, Trials Evolution, stuff like that.

And the cards are a dirty evil awesome tickle. It was especially worth while during the beta because you could sell a lot of the backgrounds / emoticons / cards for a lot more than you get now. Makes for some good trade dicussion.

  4. Antichamber, Audsiosurf, Bittrip runner 1 and 2, Bully, Castle Crashers, Demigod, Deus Ex collection, FEZ, Hitman collection, Max Payne 3, Monaco, Orcs Must Die 1 and 2, Overlord collection, Poker Night 2, Red Faction collection, Reus, Sonic collection, Sleeping dogs, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Strike Suit collection, Thief collection, Tomb Raider collection, Torchlight 1 and 2, Trine 1 and 2, The Walking Dead, and finally both the Witcher games.

I am not a clever man.

  5. Tomb Raider, Fallout: New Vegas, Evoland, Rogue Legacy, Borderlands 2 Season Pass, a couple of things for Shogun 2 and Crusader Kings 2 and (my fave of the bunch) Mount and Blade: Warband. It’s way too good for me to bother playing anything else..

  6. Hahahaha +1 Drell. We hardly knew ye, Vanilla Bear.

I grabbed Monaco (let’s heist together, guys!), Gunpoint, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. I’m still trying to catch up from the LAST Steam sale, guys.

  7. Stuck mostly to the cheaper, smaller stuff this time around. Picked up Civ V, Gunpoint, Papo & Yo, Monaco, Dragonborn, Kentucky Route Zero, Baldur’s Gate, Mars War Logs, System Shock 2, and 400 days.

  8. Through some dark arts I managed to not crack under the onslaught with the exception of System Shock 2.

  9. I grabbed Star Wars: KotOR II, System Shock 2, and Super Meat Boy. But I didn’t show nearly as much restraint last year. Still have lots to get around to…

  10. @DirefulGnome I know your pain, I went out and got drunk on Christmas Eve during the Winter sale with the steam app on my phone………

I did get KOTOR II during that binge though and will hopefully start playing it soon.

  11. Nabbed Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (great game) Sleeping Dogs (Surprisingly great game) Dragon Age Origins ultimate edition (one of my favorite rpgs this gen) Hotline Miami, and last but not least Monaco. Only real regret is not Picking up Rogue Legacy when it was on sale.

  12. Here’s the final toll on my wallet:

    A New Beginning: Final Cut
    Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
    Deadlight
    Dust: An Elysian Tale
    All of the Dishonored DLC
    Penny Arcade 4
    Dark Souls
    Deus Ex Collection
    Bully
    Fable III
    Monaco
