Pixel Count: Most Anticipated May Release

It’s the last day of April and with it comes Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, which is the likely winner of this month’s poll. Before that, let’s look at last’s month poll real fast to see who won: Injustice! The DC Comic fighting game won the hearts and minds of our readers in a somewhat anemic month. Did anyone play Injustice? I tried the demo and found it to be about what I expected, which is a lot like the last Mortal Kombat. Not like that is a bad thing, but I already got my fill of that a few years back.

So here’s what we have lined up for May, kids:

Sadly, apart from Blood Dragon, don’t expect an amazing array of games to hit in May, either. There are a few potential gems, such as Fuse, the co-op shooter from Insomniac. You may remember them from the Resistance trilogy and the Ratchet & Clank series. Those peeps know how to make games so keep your eyes on that one. Don’t sleep on Metro: Last Light, either. The original had some issues, but was somewhat of a cult favorite and the sequel appears to have learned its lessons and taken things up a few quality levels. We also have Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, the Wii game from 2010, back now on the 3Ds with added content. Add to that Resident Evil Revelations, which was a 3DS exclusive but now is being ported to PC, PS3 and 360 and you have a really odd month of releases.

I am all about Blood Dragon myself and working on my backlog. What about you? Anything catch your fancy? Vote above and tell us what you have cooking for May in the comments!

Age: 34 PSN ID: Starkiller81. I've played games since before I can remember, starting with my dad's Atari and I haven't stopped yet. Keep them coming and I will keep playing them.

  1. I’m going ‘other’ and saying Fez for PC. I don’t think I’ve waited for any game longer than this in my career as a gamer, and although I’ve heard many mixed reactions to it, I can’t wait to get my hands on it finally.

Close 2nd is Metro: Last Light. I never finished Metro 2033, because I am a wimp and shriek when I play games like that, but I’m going to give Last Light a play any way because it deserves it.

  2. I’ve gone for the outside vote of Grid 2. It’s mostly just a personal feeling rather than being excited about the game, it’s the first game from Codemasters since I left so I actually get to play it as a fan and that excites me.

I’m interested to hear how Metro does considering it’ll be the first of the taken over THQ stock to pop up but I’m not interested enough to take a day once plunge despite enjoying the first title.

  3. Man I’ve been really loving Injustice. The single player had a surprisingly strong story and the characters are fun to play as. Also unlike most fighting games that simply feature a battle mode and an online mode (I’m looking at you Marvel vs. Capcom 3), Injustice is packed with content and I’ve yet to get bored with it, despite having played over 500 fights (and I’ve never particularly cared for fighting games).

For this month my vote goes to Metro. The first was a pleasant surprise that was really unique and I expect this one to knock it out of the park. Color me excited.

  4. I haven’t got Far Cry 3 yet (Game prices in Australia are disgusting) but Blood Dragon seems downright awesome. Pretty much what the latest Duke Nukem should of been.

I bought Injustice the other day, after finishing story mode I haven’t played it since. The game itself is quite well made with plenty to do, but i find i have trouble making the transition from Tekken to Mortal Kombat.

  5. I actually haven’t played Far Cry 3 or seen any promotional material for Blood Dragon, I just like the idea and want to see it come out already.

  6. I’m actually pretty intrigued about Last Light concidering that that project from THQ was bought up so I’m curious to see how it’ll play and if it’s got that sense of spookiness that 2033 did.
