Pixel Count: Most Anticipated April Release

The March Madness is over and what a long, strange trip that month was. From Simcity’s crushing disappointment to the stellar heights of Bioshock Infinite. From the fantastic reboot of Tomb Raider to the prequels of Gears of War: Judgment and God of War: Ascension. March was a month where it could be all things to all people with a little something for everyone.

Well, I hope you got what you wanted in March because odds are that April isn’t going to blow your mind with its offering. Not that there aren’t some gems here, but nothing on the scale of last month. This is more of a specific kind of month, with niche titles that appeal to fans of that sort of thing. There isn’t really anything I am hankering to play here unless the reviews blow me away. It’s always tempting to try Shin Megami Tensei, but I am not sure this is the best one to start with. Pandora’s Tower is the least interesting of the 3 JRPGs that were part of Operation: Rainfall, so I am not realy anxious to play that. I never played Dead Island so I don’t know if Riptide will be better or worse than the original, or it is even a full-fledged sequel. Star Trek is a shooter, which isn’t what I envision when I want a new Star Trek game. Injustice might win by default, but I’m not really in the mood for a fighting game right now. I guess I am not excited for anything this month. Is there something I should try out that I am overlooking here? What say you? Is April a month for catching up on your backlog or are you going to spring for one of these titles? Go!

Age: 34 PSN ID: Starkiller81. I've played games since before I can remember, starting with my dad's Atari and I haven't stopped yet. Keep them coming and I will keep playing them.

  1. Same for me. This month is kind of dry for me. At least now I can clear out my backlog. Or, at least, get addicted to Minecraft and TF2 again.

  2. Over the last year I’ve been really getting into DC Comics, and the latest Mortal Kombat was the first fighting game I really enjoyed, so needless to say I’m kind of giddy to play Injustice. I’m hoping to have some more great same-couch fun as I did with Mortal Kombat when it comes out.

  3. I’m anticipating the release of Age of Empires II: HD Edition on the 9th. I played AoE II a lot ages ago and I’ve been feeling kinda nostalgic lately. I can’t say I’m really interested in anything else this month. Probably going to keep playing Halo 4, Battlefield 3, and replaying Bioshock Infinite until GTA IV releases.

  4. None of the above. This is a pretty dry month. I’m looking forward to AoE2:HD as well, but that’s not a day-one by any means.

  5. Wait mitch, your waiting for AoE2:HD as well? I pre ordered it. Only cause its cheaper to pre order it.
