Introducing: The GamerSushi Schedule

calender

So we’ve been doing this GamerSushi thing for over 4 years now, which means you guys have been reading a crazy amount of our goofy musings, rants, observations and editorials. We’ll of course be continuing all of these things in 2013, but with a bit more structure.

The GamerSushi Schedule is our new posting schedule — every weekday (Monday through Friday), we’ll have a designated theme that will be the focus of that day’s posts. This helps us post better content, and helps you know what will be on the site and when.

Why the change? There are a couple of reasons, but one of the biggest ones is the nature of the video game news cycle. When we started GamerSushi all those years ago, the content on video game websites was a different animal — news was regular and content was more substantive. These days, twice as many posts are written about half as much actual news (due to a fractured relationship between PR and journalists, as well as the growing competition), and it’s honestly more difficult to find quality content to point our readers to. Which sometimes means long stretches where we’re trying to find newsworthy articles.

For that reason, we want to shift the gears here, where we’re the engine behind the content that we post. You’ll find less pointing towards other sites, and more just… Sushi stuff, that hopefully you guys are just as interested in as us.

Here’s the schedule:

“What We’re Playing” Mondays: Thoughts on the games we’re tackling. Could be anything from the soundtrack to the voice acting, play style or art design.

“Pixel Count” Tuesdays: This is where you guys cast your ballots and decide the winners of all kinds of Thunderdomes.

“Did You See This” Wednesdays: We scour the gaming world for some of the most thoughtful, original content we can find, and point you to it.

“Stop the Presses” Thursdays: This will be our news day, where we talk about the most significant happenings of the week.

“GamerSushi Asks” Fridays: Every Friday we’ll hit you up with one of our popular GamerSushi Asks articles.

So yeah, that’s the new deal. We’ve already been moving away from news and more towards our own content for awhile now, but this just makes it more official, and also lets you know that we’ll have something new for you everyday, based on these themes. We’ll still have regular features, once or twice during the week, too. And of course, if something crazy happens in the gaming world, we’ll update about it as soon as we can, regardless of the day’s theme.

What do you guys think of the GamerSushi Schedule? We hope you’re excited to start spending more time with us.

  1. This is the most exciting change to the site since Nick started doing podcasts again!
I’m really looking forward to this guys and I’m really glad that you still take the time to provide us with this stuff. Still my most frequented site after *checks* 4 YEARS? WHAT? It doesn’t feel that long…

Out of curiosity, when does this start? I’m really excited.

  2. Sounds Pretty Cool, Was wondering why not do something along the line of Community Play Day once in a month?
Maybe add another fellow User Written Content.
