GamerSushi Asks: What Are You Playing this Christmas?

far cry 3

Merry Christmas Eve, GamerSushi friends, or any other holiday that you fine folks might be or have been celebrating. I’d insert a joke here about diversity, but I think we’re all a bit grown up for that by this point.

One of my favorite things about having some time off for Christmas every year is all the free time I suddenly get to catch up on games. In addition to the mouthwatering deals of the Steam Sale, I’ve also been playing a bit of Halo 4, and I’m dying to get my hands on Far Cry 3, Spec Ops: The Line and Sleeping Dogs. I’m sure there will be many other things added to that list in the next few days.

So what about you guys? What are you playing while on break? Hit us up with your comments! Go!

  1. I’m trying to clear my back catalogue of indie games from many a bundle over the hols since my PC has been left at Uni. Torchlight 2 seems to run okay-ish on my laptop, so I may get some belated co-op in. What I have managed to play of Far Cry 3 I enjoyed SO much. I must be about 3/4 of the way through, maybe more. It is such a good game and it’s almost making me wish the holidays away so I can get back to playing it. Almost. I may try to get the Walking Dead done too so that I can go listen to the spoiler-cast at long last.
That’s it with regards to games, I’m also trying to get some more reading done too. I have Catch 22 and The Picture of Dorian Gray sitting on my shelf since LAST chrimbo, so the pile is going to get bigger tomorrow. Not Jeff-book-pile big, but it’s still formidable in its own right.

  2. Still trying to struggle my way though Halo 4 and still struggling to get a firm opinion on it too. The Walking Dead, Dishonored, Torchlight 2 and Assassins creed 2 litter my ‘to do’ list. A nice sprinkling of Planetside 2 and Guild Wars 2 for good measure as well.

I’d be interested in hearing options on Far Cry 3 if anyone’s put some time into it, It was pretty much off my radar until It came out.

  3. I’ve so far picked up 9 games on the Steam sale, including Sleeping Dogs and Spec Ops: The Line like you mentioned. Also the last Indie Bunble and THQ Bundle.., So I’ve got quite a few games to play. I started off with Walking Dead and it hasn’t grabbed me yet. I’m thinking of grabbing Far Cry 3, but I’m going to upgrade my graphics card first, and hopefully by then save 25% on it or something.

    Merry Christmas guys, enjoy yourselves.

  4. Just got into Dust: An Elysian Tail. Awesome game thus far. I love the cameos from other indie game icons (SUPER MEAT BOY FTW!) I’ve also been having a grand old’ time with Dragonball Z Budokai HD Collection. Budokai 3 still holds up well these days.

My back catalog of games has been thoroughly beaten, so now I have my eyes set on Anarchy Reigns and DmC: Devil May Cry for next month.

  5. I got Dishonored (I’m in love with stealth games, and I have a feeling this one is going to scratch the same itch Deus Ex did last year), and with the money I received I bought Hitman and Sleeping Dogs (it better be good Mitch and Anthony…). My GF has yet to give me her gifts but I told her to get me Steam gift cards, so with those I’ll pick up Far Cry 3 as well. Along with a little SWTOR and finishing the latest Walking Dead comics, it’s going to be a good holiday break.

  6. I’ve been playing heavy doses of Far Cry 3. It’s a flat out phenominal game, from the mechanics to crafting to get better things and leveling up to get new skills. For an open world game, this one grabs my attention and has me playing 5 to 7 hours of it at a time. I’ve also been having a ball with Black Ops 2’s muliplayer, playing with my friends, because it’s more fun with a party. I also recently got nostagic and bought Fallout 3: GOTY with all the DLC and bough a vanilla copy of it under 5 dollars at GameStop.

  7. I’m trying to stay away from online gaming as of the past week. I boxed up my Xbox and put it away. I tried playing Black Ops 2 on PC, but I have such horrible framerate issues, it’s unplayable. It will drop from 60 to 40 every two seconds. I’ve searched online and it seems I’m not the only one with this problem. And as of right now there doesn’t seem to be a fix for it.

I also tried some MW3 and BF3, but that just reminded me why I put away my Xbox. I simply can’t handle to online community anymore. I can’t take the campers, glitchers, and just plain rude people out there. I call them the YouTube generation of gamers. And when they have the nerve to tell me in the lobby after the game that I suck, that’s the last straw. I used to be able to run around and have fun with my friends and do really well, but that’s a thing of the past. Games are supposed to be fun and a stress reducer, so when it starts working the other way around, that’s enough for me.

Sorry, this isn’t a rant article Eddy posted here…so, what I am going to play…

I picked up Spec Ops: The Line on the Steam sale today and I’m looking forward to that. I’m also thinking about L.A. Noire, but I’m not sure yet. I really want to get Far Cry 3, and I doubt that will be on the sale. I know I can pick it up on Amazon for $40, so I may do that. Basically I’m just looking for some good single-player games.
