GamerSushi Asks: What Are You Playing?

pokemon white version 2

Man, there has been a binder full of games coming out the past week, and it just isn’t going to stop until December. I’m still finding things to do in Borderlands 2 (like the recently release DLC) and I’m neck-deep in XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I’ve also been playing Pokemon White: Version 2 and Sonic Adventure 2, and Sleeping Dogs sits on my shelf, waiting to be unwrapped.

Truth be told, I don’t know if I’m going to have time for anything other than XCOM. It’s just so good, and really, really difficult. You’re constantly spinning plates when it comes to managing the metagame, and I’ve got at least four countries sitting on Level 4 Panic while I hurry up and wait for my satellites to build. If I play that game through again, I’m going to start building power generators and satellite facilities from the get-go just so I can have a stable of the damn things ready to launch if things start to go off the rails.

I’ve also been quite tempted to pick up Dishonored, but I’ve heard mixed things about it despite the overwhelmingly positive reviews. While the game is being praised for a lot of things, I hear that it really can be quite short, and the stealth mechanics are a little fuzzy when it comes to determining whether or a not a guard can actually see you. After Mark of the Ninja (apples and oranges I know) managed to pull off communicating this so well, and games like Chronicles of Riddick have done it too, I feel like Dishonored could have been more tuned up in this area. That said, I haven’t actually played it, so feel free to tell me if I’m talking out of my butt.

So what have y’all been playing? Oh, Mark of the Ninja is out on Steam, so go pick that up quick-like.

  1. Dragon Age: Awakening right now. It’s nothing but more Dragon Age: Origins, but that’s a very good thing. Consider it a more true sequel than DA 2.

  2. I recently remembered that I pre-ordered Torchlight II, so in between midterms that game has been consuming my entire life. And I love it.

  3. @Anthony I feel that DA:A was very underrated, I thought it was an outstanding addition to DA.

Right now I’m not playing much of anything, just the occasional Borderlands and Mists of Panderia. All I really care about is Halo 4, which is taking its sweet damn time getting here.

Also Mitch, you’re talking out of your butt.

  4. FFXIII 2mat the moment, honestly enjoying it quite a bit despite the swath of negative reviews, it’s not amazing, but it’s good fun. Excited for Halo 4 and when I get some Live! Gold again I think I’ll take ME3 multiplayer for a second spin.

  5. Playing Dishonored. Mitch, in my opinion, you can’t really go wrong with it. I’m maybe halfway through it and it is a great game so far. I haven’t had any problems of guards spotting me when the arguably shouldn’t yet but if you have Dark Vision then you’ll be fine.
I’ve finally got Borderlands 2 started with a 4 man group so we’re having a lot of fun with that. We spent nearly 40 minutes doing slot machines and unlocking skins and Eridium. Such a fun waste of time.
That and I’m playing LoL and getting better at it. I think. The World Championship was an amazing show, did anyone else here watch it? And if so; who were you supporting? I supported Moscow5 and was not disappointed with their performance. TA were a better team in the end, but ah well.

  6. Keeping busy until Halo 4, been playing Borderlands 2 coop. Also Resident Evil 6, kept waiting for it to get bad, don’t get any of the complaints.

The most stressful game this fall however has been Fantasy Football.

  7. I’ve picked up the first Pokemon Black/White games again, this time playing through the Blaze Black/Volt White edition. Pretty fun, adds a lot to the game that makes it both easier and harder.

  8. I’ve been playing quite a bit of Borderlands 2, XCOM: EU, and more recently I’ve been once again completely mesmerized by TF2’s hypnotic stare. I’ve been quite enjoying the MvM rounds I’ve played so far and everybody I’ve played with has been legit and made the experience all the more enjoyable. Needless to say, I’ll never regret buying The Orange Box day 1 for TF2 and Portal, amongst the entire 5 games it came with. I’ve got to eventually pre-order Bioshock Infinite, as I just saw the PS3 Collectors Edition screenshots on my Facebook feed the other day, and the statue that comes with is freakin’ GORGEOUS.
