The GamerSushi Power Rankings: September 2012

CS GO

It’s been a couple of months since we’ve updated our Power Rankings, and the tumultuous nature of the top 10 list should show that quite a bit of time has passed. This has given some new challengers room to flex their muscles, smashing new resting places for themselves right at the top, casting down all other games in a mighty display of strength. All future games for 2012, take notice. Walking Dead is the way you want to make your entrance.

Along with the inclusion of Walking Dead and its fantastic 3 episodes, you’ll also notice newcomer Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as well as Hero Academy. These 3 titles have made quite the impression on the GamerSushi staff over the last month or so, and it shows. One can only imagine what kind of pandemonium will take place on this list once the likes of Borderlands 2 arrives in just a few short weeks.

It should be noted that we’ve only had a limited amount of experience with both Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs, but the next list should reflect that they, you know, exist.

So have a look. Argue with us. Tell us we’re idiots. Give us your own top 10 list for 2012. What do you think of the new update to the Power Rankings? Go!

1 Walking Dead Walking Dead
An engaging entry into the Walking Dead world that plays hell on your conscience with some gut-wrenching choices. Fantastic story, great return to point-and-click
2 CS:GO Counter-Strike: GO
Counter-Strike returns. A wonderful mix of Source and 1.6 that feels both new and familiar.
3 Diablo 3 -1 Diablo 3
Even after you finish the game, it keeps giving you more reasons to loot.
4 Mass Effect 3 -3 Mass Effect 3
Take notice, industry. This is how you give your game legs, even half a year after its release.
5 Hero Academy
A multiplayer Strategy RPG that happens to be an iPhone game. Get ready to be addicted.
6 Trials Evolution -3 Trials: Evolution
It’s only a matter of time before this game tumbles off the charts completely.
7 -3 Final Fantasy XIII-2
Still one of the best single player experiences of the year. Might even see a bump after the new DLC releases.
8 -2 Journey
With no replay value to speak of, this game is taking a Journey straight to the bottom of the top 10.
9 -4 Fez
Tricky, cute and fun. But sadly, it doesn’t stick with you too long.
10 Day Z -2 Day Z
Wonderful concept, but hampered by tremendous difficulty. Maybe wait for the standalone title.

  1. Wow! That chart has some amount of negativity in it! 😛 That comment about Trials: Evolution? Damn, that’s harsh!
In all seriousness though, I’m glad of the very mature look you’re giving the chart, rather than let the big AAA games or indie darlings have a free pass to remain on the chart. Keep up the good work!
