Moral Dilemmas in Walking Dead Episode 2

Even though I haven’t had much gaming time as of late, one of the games that’s really impressed me in the last couple of months has been the Walking Dead. Telltale’s point-and-click take on the zombie apocalypse is not only fun and thought-provoking, it’s also tense as hell and fraught with difficult choices.

One of the greatest aspects of the game is that it thrusts the main character, Lee, into some ridiculous situations that have actual ramifications on character interaction and the way the story progresses. Who do you save? Who do you let die? Do you steal? Do you spare your enemies? These are the kinds of things that survivors are forced to choose, and it isn’t always easy.

Interestingly enough, Telltale has released a brand new video detailing these choices in the form of the Walking Dead Episode 2 Stats Trailer. It’s cool to get a glimpse at just what other players have chosen to do (or not do) in this zombie-infested game.

Naturally, spoilers follow if you watch the video. Who’s played Eps 1 and 2 of The Walking Dead? What choices did you make? Go!

  1. I’ve heard good things about the game and have considered maybe giving them a try. I’ve read the first two trade hardbacks of the comics and seen the first season of the show, which universe does it take place in? Both are very different from one another.

  2. I played both episodes as soon as they were released and I’ve been extremely impressed with the series, I’m eagerly awaiting the third episode.

I ended up doing most of the same stuff as the majority, but I didn’t kill Danny. I also sided with Kenny in the fridge, I wasn’t sure what was happening and I kind of panicked, I ended up holding the man’s daughter back while Kenny caved his head in 🙁 . I regretted my choice as soon as I made it and wanted to restart and try revive the man, now every time I see the man’s daughter and when she criticized that I killed her father and not the ranch brothers, I feel like a piece of crap.

I’m going to stick with what I did though, I feel that’s how it should be. I will probably replay the game once all the episodes have released and I finished my current playthrough. I feel that it says a lot about a game to make the player feel such strong emotions, and I can’t wait for it to continue! 🙂

Comic book universe. This game is so awesome. I love it.

I spared my enemies. They usually die in the end anyway. I try to be a good person and take care of everyone.

I’m sure that will come back to bite me in the ass later.

  4. Will wait for them all to be released. Then I’ll experience everything in one go. I’d not have the discipline to wait on each installment.
Out of curiosity, does the cannon of this game cross over with the comics? Or is it a completely different story running parallel to the comics in, say, another part of the country? I’ve only just finished the third volume so I’d rather not spoil anything for myself.
