Valve Releases Source Filmmaker, Meet the Pyro

It’s a good day to be a Valve fan as we’re being treated to two new releases from everyone’s favorite gaming company. First is Meet the Pyro, which finally takes us behind the mask of the mysterious flame-spewing class…kind of. It’s not the strongest of the Meet the Team videos, but it has its moments.

The big news though, is that Valve is putting out Source Filmmaker, and there’s a video you can catch after the jump.

Pretty cool stuff, considering that Valve has said many time that they are not interested in machinima. I guess we know why now, and I can’t wait to see what people can make out of the Source Filmmaker.

So, thoughts on Valve’s double-scoop of treats?

  1. Hmm. I feel like that would have come in handy when a few Gamersushi members were making a Source based web show a few years back. But maybe that’s just me.

  2. Someone relieve Eddy of those baby duties and reassemble the team, there’s more Leet World to be made!

  3. I can honestly say, I’ve never seen a more powerful and creative tool for making quality content. It’s integrated into the games so well. I’m very excited and have to get my hands on this. Valve you clever bastards. Now if you could just tell us that Half-Life 3 is coming out next month….

  4. Valve
    Is
    God.

Man, if I was a fanboy before… Powerful tools in the hands of creative people = my favourite kind of experiments.

All I could think about was L337 World: Source.

Meet the Pyro started off really cool, I liked the “dark unknown” stuff, but the fluffy thing was a bit too much. A few under the breath yuks was about it.

    Right?

Seriously, the tools in Source Filmmaker are pretty mind-blowing. I’m wondering if it will support more than just TF2 in the near future.

  6. I think the way they’ve been talking about it, they’re going to be adding games to it as time progresses.

Ergo, I am happier than a pig in shit.
