The GamerSushi Power Rankings: June 2012

Diablo 3 banner

Welcome to the June Power Rankings page update. If you’re new to this feature, it’s our running list of the top 10 games of 2012, pitted against each other in brutal fashion. Think Wizard Chess, only not as cool. Really, that’s not a fair comparison, since nothing is cooler than Wizard Chess, but the point still stands — these games are fighting for their lives.

Just like the last update, we see some more moving and shaking as new contenders arrive, and old games fade away.

The most notable changes to the June update would have to be the appearance of both Diablo 3 and Day Z. Diablo 3 finds its mark fairly high, and promises to only get higher over the course of the year. As before, Mass Effect 3 seems to be the game to beat this year, which could prove difficult if Bioware keeps supporting it with weekly challenges the way they have been. The biggest free-fallers? Trials Evolution and Journey, who were both number 1 early in the year. That number 1 spot is brutal, gentlemen.

So have a look and tell us what you think of these current standings. Have we missed the mark? What are your top 10 games of 2012 at the moment? Go!

1 Mass Effect 3 +1 Mass Effect 3
Co-op is apparently the secret to staying power in 2012. Add the almost weekly challenges, and this game is hard to put down.
2 Diablo 3 Diablo 3
It’s just more Diablo. And that’s hardly a bad thing.
3 Trials Evolution -2 Trials: Evolution
Still addictive, but only in spurts these days.
4 -1 Final Fantasy XIII-2
Some of the most addictive single player RPG combat of this generation keeps this game mostly steady.
5 Fez
Still clever. Still fun. Still at 5.
6 -2 Journey
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
7 -1 Xenoblade Chronicles
Can games be too long? Xenoblade could be an argument that some are.
8 Day Z Day Z
Open world zombie survival game? This will climb soon.
9 -1 Kingdoms of Amalur
This game’s a success, no matter what Rhode Island says.
10 -3 Twisted Metal
With only good multiplayer, this game will be quickly forgotten.

  1. No mention of Max Payne 3? It’s not exactly what I expected, but it’s certainly deserves a spot on the top 10 so far.

Yeah, I think Mitch said he might pick it up one day, but personally, I have no interest in that franchise anymore, although the good things I hear are intriguing.

Whats not to like about a pill poppin’ alcoholic!?

  4. I really want to try Day Z, as it’s a mod for Arma II, and from what I’ve seen, it’s pretty awesome. Damnable technology restrictions, and financial, keep me from doing so
