Diablo III Has a Release Date

Diablo 3

Zounds! After a week of nothing but Mass Effect 3 ending talk, it seems that there’s finally some news worth posting about — Diablo III launches on May 15th. So two months from today, PC gamers everywhere will be enjoying the great tastes of hack-n-slash dungeon crawling that have been missing since Diablo II came out in June of 2000. Almost a dozen years, gents.

While there was originally a lot of clamor about the art style of Diablo III and some bickering about whether or not it would see the console light of day, all that seems to have died down in recent months. I’ve had a chance to play literally just a few minutes of the beta, but plan on playing a little more now that the game has a proper date. Needless to say, I’ve been missing this type of game for years now – it’s strange that nobody’s really done it as well as Diablo II has all those years ago.

So now, the big question: is anyone else as pumped about this as I am? Who’s going to be grabbing this on day one? Go!

  1. I have absolutely no idea what Diablo is even about (I’ve heard about it endlessly though), but it’s Blizzard and now that they’ve announced in for May when there aren’t going to be any games I want to play coming out, I think I just might get it.

  2. I’m so excited for this to be released, and one day after my birthday. Man the countless hours I spent doing coop over battlenet and LAN were fun as hell.

I’m gonna go ahead and give it my goty for 2012. Because even though I’m sure me3 and re6 will be great games. It’s Diablo and i love Diablo

  3. I played the demo for about an hour and was really bored. I probably won’t get this unless my friends tell me it’s amazing and we need to play co-op like OMGWTFBBQ.

    Haters gonna hate.

  4. I’ve heard of this Diablo game, isn’t it basically Borderlands with swords? 🙂

Haven’t played a Diablo before, so it will depend on much people rave about it

  5. Let’s just say I’m intrigued. I’ve played both 1 and 2, haven’t beaten either. I’ll probably buy it release day.

  6. I’m not drinking Mitch’s haterade, but I haven’t really enjoyed a pure hack & slash since the original, so I’m on the fence here. Maybe if I end up with a beta key between now and then…
