The GamerSushi Show, Ep 36: PAX South

This post was actually written by Eddy, posted by Nick. Just to clear up any confusion.

Wow. Uh, hi dudes. I know it hasn’t been a long time since we’ve chatted, but it’s certainly been a long time since we’ve chatted in this format – you know, the format where I’m bringing you a brand new podcast. So that’s pretty cool, right? Especially considering the fact that this isn’t a normal podcast, but a special video podcast!

Yes, this is the long-rumored video podcast from GamerSushi Weekend, AKA PAX South, where the GamerSushi dudes convened for a weekend of hanging out, video gaming, drinking and yes, podcasting. I know it’s pretty ridiculous that it’s just now coming out almost six months later, but sometimes life happens and bearded dudes have to go to California to work. And yeah, that gets in the way every now and then.

Anyway, you can either listen to the cast or watch it below, because we love you so much. Be sure to thank Nick for all of his hard work on this. A lot goes into syncing up four audio tracks with a video recording (and it gets out of sync from time to time), plus I love the super sweet transitions. I can’t express in words how happy I got when I watched the intro, and it made me wish we could do a video cast every week. Believe me, we would if we could.

So yeah, check it out. We’re talking about bringing the podcast back now that Nick is all settled in California. What are some things you’d like to see/hear in future episodes? Let us know!

00:00:29 – Intro
00:02:07 – PAX South & Mortal Kombat
00:08:11 – Pax Prime: CS: GO & Halo
00:23:03 – Nick got a 3DS
00:30:43 – Deus Ex: Human Revolution
00:44:00 – Game time!
00:44:44 – Grades: GameStop’s compensation?
00:53:08 – Grades: EA’s claim about new IPs?
00:59:28 – Grade: Razer’s gaming laptop “The Blade”?
01:11:05 – Grade: Timed exclusives?
01:21:38 – Outro

The Big Questions: What did you think of these topics? What grades would you give these issues? How awesome is the video cast? Go!

  1. Oh man… now all the next episodes of the podcast will feel like playing Uncharted 1 after playing 2 and 3. There is no going back.
Really enjoyed watching this videocast guys and I hope you continue to upload more frequently.
The things Iā€™d like to see/hear in future episodes are: how far into Skyrim you are and your opinion so far; How come everyone hated Uncharted 3?; Expectations for Mass Effect 3 February release; PS Vita and The Last of Us.

  2. Wow, great to have you back guys. Not that you really left, but you know what I mean. Loved the video. It would be great if you could do that all the time. I think Mitch and Anthony should just move to Texas permanently. I think the next podcast should go for like 6 hours and be about everything thats happened since PAX South.

Go on, you know you want to

  3. Haha, yeah… I really did have that coming =D. Maybe when CS:GO comes out we will finally do a PC gaming night, and include Anthony / whoever wants to play on a console too. I’ll even try with my Logitech controller.

For some reason I always imagined Anthony as Daniel. I knew he wasn’t, but that was always just in my head. Kind of got a Mac from Always Sunny thing going on, haha.

A sweet thing in DX:HR was an achievement in the very first room called “Old School Gamer” or something, where you ‘investigate’ every object in the room. That was a very cute touch. I also missed the hostages in the first mission because I always waste so much time exploring corners and vents, especially in a Deus Ex game.

My friend (whom I sell PCs with) actually designed and has a patent on a laptop shell that sustains intense internal heat, but only emits heat within the mandatory limits. However, these start around $5000 and go up to about $10,000 [because of how few shells are manufactured at once]. Right now, Med students / Engineering students are the buyers, the ones with big grants because they need powerful enough laptops for heavy-duty imaging. A $2800 Razer laptop just doesn’t make sense. I just bought a 2nd mouse from them and it stopped working 2 months later, I’m beyond frustrated with their customer service.

Great to have you guys back. Some big laughs in there for sure!
