GamerSushi Asks: Christmas Loot, 2011?

lootMerry Christmas and happy holidays, fine ladies and gents of GamerSushi. Another year has come and gone, which brings us back to our annual tradition of posting all of our loot on Christmas Day. Like RPG adventurers, many of us have braved the dungeons of relatives’ homes, slayed the boss monsters of awkward family dinners and plumbed the depths of bow-topped expert chests in order to get our prizes, so I think it’s appropriate that everyone flaunts it.

If there was any Christmas that potentially had a lot of gaming-related loot to reap, it was this one. Fall 2011 has brought us so many spectacular games, that there were literally any number of games that would make a great gift, from the random 3DS entry to Skyrim to the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection. Or, if you’re like me, you use Christmas to hoard up enough Amazon gift cards to launch you into the next year unafraid, ready for the new adventures of Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 3 or the continued saga of Lightning in FFXIII-2.

Speaking of my loot, I got a couple hundred bucks to Amazon, which I immediately spent on Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Ghostbusters on Blu-ray. As they drop in price over the next couple of weeks, I also plan on grabbing Saint’s Row: The Third, Forza 4 and possibly even Battlefield 3, which is on a one-day sale right now on Amazon. In terms of other gifts, I got an LED light for my computer keyboard, a bag of peppermints (I’m seriously addicted), an FSU thermos and plenty of things for our future daughter. I know, my gifts are turning into an old person’s, but that’s life.

So what about you guys? What loot did you get? Feel free to post your lists here. What all did you do for Christmas? Go!

  1. As far as games go? Just one, but since it’s Ocarina of Time 3D I ain’t complaining! In addition to that I got the Limited 25th Ann. Zelda 3DS. Beautiful.
So apart from those I got X-men First Class on Blu-Ray, and a shit-load of books including: The Picture of Dorian Gray, Catch 22 and Animal Farm. Also I got all the Harry Potters in one DVD collection. Personally, I’d prefer Blu-Ray, but I’m happy with finally having them all! 🙂 Not meaning to sound ungreatful there, btw, I’m just a graphics whore.
My girlfriend got me A Storm of Swords 2: Blood and Gold and A feast for Crows (her own fault if I don’t see her for the next few months! lol). At present I’m on A Storm of Swords 1: Steel and Snow (I still don’t understand why they thought the book was too long to be collected in one volume in the UK lol, isn’t just one for you Americans?). Needless to say, they’re all great books so far and I’m loving the series. I’d like to thank everyone on this site for talking about it and getting me interested in the seires. Merry Christmas, y’all!

  2. I got Deus Ex: Human Revolution, 1400 Microsoft points, and a special edition Xbox controller. A good haul if you ask me. Other than that I received plenty of music CDs which is fantastic! I hope you all had a good Christmas(/holiday/celebration) too! 😀

  3. Well, I didn’t get anything video game related (haven’t since the N64, so yeah) other than this Assassin’s Creed themed hat.

It’s quite awesome, and yes, I did take the sticker off. I’m only a partial douchebag.

Other than that it was socks, underwear, cooking stuffs and a housecoat. And I was grateful to get it. Sorry, I’ve been reading all the spoiled rich kids moaning about not getting an iPhone all day on Twitter.

  4. Got me some Amazon gift cards and Best Buy gift cards, in addition to some dvds and blu rays like Fringe Season 2, Castle Season 3, X-Men First Class, Thor, Captain America, Transformers 3 and some books.

In the games area, we cleaned up:

    Sly Collection
    Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
    Fight Night Champion
    Dead Space 2
    God of War Origins
    Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
    Team Ico Collection

Not a bad haul. And the family stuff was nice, too.

  5. I got a Razer 7.1 headset for my future Old Republic ventures that I am loving, a Mass Effect hoody and dress shirt (I’m obsessed), and 21 shares of Zynga since they just went public (go stock market!). Oh and Super Mario 3D Land for my 3DS, which is really refreshing since I haven’t played a Mario game sine Super Mario 64.

  6. Nothing game related for either this year although I did give my mum bejeweled 3, much to my dads disgust. I scored a new shirt, couple of pairs of shorts, all 3 mission impossible movies, Harry potter 7-2, fringe seasons 2 and 3, a new sherlock holmes novel by anthony horowitz, plus some money and gift cards. Pretty good year.

  7. I got LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring Special Extended Edition DVD, a Squidbillies Season 4 DVD, a Casablanca and Duck Soup poster, $70 in cash, and a few other miscellaneous items.
Pretty good haul this year. Have fun with you spoils everyone!

  8. Well, gamewise, I got Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, a foam minecraft pickaxe and, my personal favourite, an assassin’s creed hoodie which nicely is also a pretty nice hoodie in its own right.
