Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Roll Call!

Goodbye, cruel world.

I am leaving you for better, greener pastures. Well, sometimes they’re greener. Sometimes they’re frozen tundras swarming with dragons. Other times they’re cavernous holds for bandits. It doesn’t really matter what they look like, all I know is that I’m going to the world of The Elder Scrolls, and I don’t know if I’ll ever return from those fair peaks and dark dungeons.

This could last awhile.

As you know, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out tomorrow (or in just a few moments on the East Coast), and the world will never be the same. I for one plan on playing this game through the end of the year, forsaking all other suitors that plead for my time. With a ton of great, mostly perfect reviews out for the game, along with the reports that it will have never-ending sidequests, it almost seems like a no-brainer to pick this one up.

So I guess my question to you guys is this: who’s getting Skyrim? Roll call! Go!

  1. Everyone below is a lucky duck! I have neither the time nor funds to buy Skyrim at this time. Our school play ate my life for the past few months, and then I start my job so I can make some Skyrim money, because as nice as Skyrim is, I prefer food. Well actually, it’s a close call.
Mainly I just don’t have time to lose my whole social life to INFINITE SIDE QUESTS. At least it’ll be an awesome prize toward which to work.

  2. Hell freaking yes I am getting this. It’s ordered, paid for and I am waiting anxiously for it to be delivered. See you all when Mass Effect 3 rolls around, I won’t be surfacing for air until at least then.

  3. First in line for my Gamestop!
Also only one to preorder it for the PC there, which was also great.
Only problem thus far: Gotta use Steam.

  4. Can’t wait to get mine! Although I’m still loving Dark Souls, so I guess it’s not too urgent, but I still want it now!!

Anyone know a site where I can enter my PC specs and see what settings I’ll need to run the game at? I know my PC will run it, just not sure how far I’ll need to turn it down and if it’ll be worth it. Have to decide whether I get it for PC or PS3.

  5. If there’s a game that will stop me from playing BF3, that will be this one.
    Goodbye outside world.

  6. Can’t wait for this, which is a shame because i have to hold off for the new year. From what I’ve heard so far its all very positive about it though.

  7. My town didn’t have a midnight launch. I’m picking mine up on my way to dad’s. My brother is grabbing his copy in a bit too. SUUUUUUUPER PUMPED!

  8. Me and my amigos went to the midnight launch. I was so excited and distracted with all the talking about Skyrim than I didn’t even notice that the jackass who sold me the game and guide didn’t give me the guide half-price (for one night only!).
    > : (

I instantly got over it the moment the cart was trundling down that hill though… And when I saw how good the official guide is. GOTY; calling it now and I haven’t even got around to Drake’s Deception and Arkham City…

My mind went to a very dirty place when I read that, and may never come back.

Seriously, though, I bought it, but I actually let my brother play it first tonight because I wanted to go for a walk when I came home from work, and now plan to make an appearance at a happy hour event. I loved Oblivion so much I am trying to approach Skyrim with caution, because I like sleeping, exercise, being social, and seeing occasional daylight…

  10. I haven’t picked up Skyrim yet. Gonna wait till Christmas break to pick it up. Good luck I’ll be joining you guys soon.

  11. After having played it some more, I can now confirm that my reaction is: HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS THING!

  12. Winter Break needs to get here sooner I actually want to finish out my first quarter of college with at least some decent grades. I am pretty sure that skyrim would make sure that could not be accomplished. Can’t wait for winter break… screw socializing with my old friends; I am pretty sure they would understand.
