Grand Theft Auto V Debut Trailer

So this just happened. It’s kind of big news, I guess.

There’s not much to say about the Grand Theft Auto V trailer that you haven’t heard already. It’s been several years since GTA IV came out, and Rockstar definitely has a lot to live up to in terms of expectations. Do they rise to the occasion? I guess you can watch and find out.

So what are your reactions to the trailer? As much as I’m not a graphics guy, I have to say that the detail and the quality of the animations shown in the trailer are really impressive. It also seems to me that we’re back in Los Santos, though it’s hard to tell if it’s going to include the same amount of real estate that we saw in San Andreas.

While I’m curious to see more of this game, we all know that I wasn’t a huge fan of Grand Theft Auto IV, so they’ll have to show me something new and interesting to get me more pumped for this than I am for Saint’s Row 3. That’s just my opinion, though. Let’s hear yours. Go!

  1. Ive spent more hours messing around in GTA IV’s freeroam with my friends then you could imagine. I hope this one expands a little on what RDR did with gang hideouts and other things to do online because after a while we had to make up our own games (although tag is much more fun then you can imagine). Adding some sort of custom games or vehicle/weapon spawner like Halo would literally give a game like this an infinite lifetime.

Anyway, looks great, loved GTA IV but Im also one of the people who wants more crazy vehicles and weapons. Its seems like Rockstar wanted to be a sort of Christopher Nolan and Saints Row has embraced the Joel Schumacher route (Sorry, Ive been talking about Batman all day). The Jet shot to me was a little wink from Rockstar saying, “Ok, we can be wacky and fun, its no hover bike but heres a jet.”

    You guys see that Mountain!?

  2. Was that in game? Wow, very believable “feeling” it looks like. Can’t wait to see more. I also wasn’t a huge fan of GTA:IV, but the series is always a must try. I wonder what crazy DRM shit they’ll attach to this one. Social Club or whatever was poop.

  3. Lol Eddy I always laugh whenever you write about GTA related things, you always have a bit of a chip on your shoulder from your strong dislike of GTA IV that you somewhat try to conceal. Nothing bad, just kinda funny. Anywho on topic I’ve never actually played a GTA game (besides going over to a buddy’s house and killing lots of people), so I might give this one a shot. I play open world games very different than most people (I don’t kill random people, most of the time I obey street laws, I walk rather than run to most places to make it seem more cinematic, etc.) so I’ll be interested to try it out my way.

    1. Ha, I just try to be careful because I don’t want it to seem like I’m trolling on GTA IV or anything. Plus, I don’t want to be THAT guy (the one that always brings up the same thing over and over).

  4. This does look more realistic – maybe they’ll upgrade from your annoying cousin calling you to hang out all the time to your wife calling to ask when you’ll be home all the time. Snark aside, I loved GTA IV right up to the moment I started hating it about 2/3 of the way through, and I’m cautiously optimistic about this one.
