The GamerSushi Show, Ep 32: The Prodigal Podcast

And… we’re back.

We’ve taken a bit of time away from the podcast (and if you’ve noticed, the site in general) to recharge our batteries a bit before heading into the fall. The thing about video game news is that like anything else, it works in seasons of dry spells and deluges, and the month of July is a drought of anything worth talking about on the whole. This is mostly due to E3, since the games industry seems to save all its mojo for one special week, and then deals with the announcements for another couple of weeks after. And then the dread silence.

So, we decided that for the podcast, August through E3 will now be a “season” of the show. Which technically makes this season 2, I guess. Welcome! We’ve got a game of over/under for the first few games of the fall, some talk about Bastion, as well as some silliness about the Nintendo 3DS price drop.

Anyway, you’ll see more posts in general around these parts, including the continuation of the weekly podcast. I for one am ready for the Fall of epic gaming to be upon us. Here are the topics for this week’s prodigal podcast:

  1. The DLC pass sounds like the way I would want to do it. I hate DLC being something you pay for anyway.

    I want to try Bastion, this really has me interested now.

  4. Thank you for finally returning, I was having withdrawals! And now that I’ve started a bit of a meme with Eddy’s “nice”, I have to say another thing I notice is Jeff always has a distinct awkward laugh when he doesn’t know anything about a game/subject. Look at the Resistance section for example, it’s funny when you listen for it.

  5. I feel like Braid and Limbo are very different games, and are both overrated in their own respects. I love each one the same, but differently, like a mother to her children.

    3D is bullshit. It is a stain in gaming history, and I hope we move away from it as fast as we can.

    I’m sad to hear you say that. I like some games that got awful reviews, and hated some games that were highly reviewed. My opinion of the game /is/ the only opinion that will matter. It’s already paid for, and I want Deus Ex 3 to be what it’s meant to be. And if reviews do matter, PC Gamer gave it a 94 so far, so I think that has a little bit of weight.

  7. In Jeff’s defense, I’ve had my share of awkward laughs.

    @Julez, I didn’t mean to say it in a disrespectful way, but Over/Under is guessing media review scores, so what an average Joe (or hey, even me) would give it doesn’t usually factor into my thoughts in the game.

    Good to have you back guys, its been too long. You guys have convinced me to pick up Bastion too. Honestly, some game company’s marketing division needs to hire you five. You sell things so well.

    Haha I don’t sit there and listen to it looking for memes, I just notice them over time, lol. If I hear another one, I’m sure I’ll mention it in the comments of that podcast.

  11. I’ve only listened to like four minutes so far, but I think Mitch’s “It only does confusion” crack might have been the highlight of my day. I don’t know why, but I literally LOL’d when I heard that.
