Does Halo: Anniversary Pack a Next Gen Punch?

As many of you know, Halo: Anniversary releases this November, right in time for the 10th anniversary of Halo: CE, a game that changed the landscape of FPS gaming on consoles. All we’ve seen of the game thus far has been shown to us in a slew of E3 trailers, but no more. The dudes at 343 have been kind enough to put together a walkthrough of The Silent Cartographer, one of the original game’s more famous levels, in the brand new engine.

So what do you guys think? Do you think the graphics go far enough to make this a contender with some of the other big titles of today? How excited are you that they used much of the original game’s code? Who will be buying this? Go!

  1. Perfect. I think that sells me on the fact that they didnt fuck it up. It looks brilliant. Its Halo CE, its not a remake. That to me was the key to this game being a success. I cant wait for this game. I feel like Ill end up playing it in classic mode quite a lot. The co-op is what has me most stoked, that and the online portion. I really cant wait. 😀

  2. I would have to say so. I really loved Halo CE, and if they release this for PC i might have to buy 2. or 19. And I really love shiny things.

  3. I am very glad they kept the original game’s code, and that they aren’t making massive changes to the game, other than the visuals. Being able to flip back to the original is a cool feature, it also shows how true they stayed to the design of the scenery, very impressive. I will probably give this a pass because of games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution (looks great!), Battlefield 3 (this one too!), Skyrim (especially this one!), Assassin’s Creed Revelations (really looking forward to it!). There is a possibility that I will still get this game, but I can’t see it happening soon because of this list of other games I plan on purchasing.

  4. They have my money already. This is a good sign from 343, they recognize what the fans want, and are executing it perfectly. I want it to play the exact same, just look a whole lot better. And the feature that lets you flip between the old and new look on the fly is awesome.

  5. Must… resist… temptation… Can’t… afford… 3… 60… but… too many… great games… coming out! Arrrrrrrgh! Nostalgia generator overload! *Head asplode*

  6. It’s going to be weird playing a game that functions like it’s ten years old but looks like it came out this year. Other than that, I’m totally stoked. Halo CE is still my favorite Halo campaign, and one of my favorite games of all time.
