GamerSushi Asks: How Are You Celebrating the 4th?

independence dayI know that not everyone here is a good and proper American (Murican), so I know this post isn’t entirely applicable, but I still thought I’d put it out there anyway. After all, our Canadian friends just had Canada Day this weekend, and our friends across the pond probably celebrate distancing themselves from the U.S. 235 years ago.

As of now, my only plans today are to eat a lot of ribs. Seriously, I’m going to two separate parties in which the purpose is to eat ribs. Besides that, I plan on playing a bit of Half-Life 2, Starcraft 2 and watching some Modern Family, which I’ve just recently gotten into. Good times.

So, yeah. On this great day of fireworks (unless you’re in Texas, that is, where the drought is stopping all that), hot dogs and general lazing around, what are you guys doing? What are you playing? How do you normally celebrate on holidays like this? Go!

  1. In the UK we don’t celebrate anything. At some point in the day I go “Hey, it’s the 4th of July!” then realise that it means nothing for me. Seriously we don’t even get a Britain Day

  2. AMERICA! F YEAH! FREEDOM IS THE ONLY WAY, YEAH!

I watched 1776, the musical one, and I forgot how many dick jokes there are. Good stuff, truly American. On the gaming front, I’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption multiplayer and finally getting around to those side missions I could never get myself to bother with. Oh, and I finally realized how to start Jack Marston’s epilogue mission. I didn’t realize the “Remember My Family” marker was the one I had to trigger. Derp. Still, RDR is an excellent game, even though it’s a pain to aim from cover.

  3. Woke up at 1:20 pm (like a true ‘Murican from the July 3rd hangover), went home, ate, went to buddies to play some MGS4: Guns of the Patriots (appropriate, yet not; Acts 1 and 2), drank, ate my awesome cheese-dip I make in excess for friends during some weekends and finished it with a night/morning (7-5) of drinking, playing MVP 2005 (a favorite baseball game I pull out once in a while), eating chips and salsa and going to finish it up with with some Doctor Who Season 3.

Also listening to Ep. 29 while playing some baseball at the moment. So I still have the chips and salsa and Doctor Who to look forward to.

  4. League of Legends +
    Halo: Reach +
    Call of Duty: MW2 +
    Super Smash Bros. Brawl +
    Samuel Adams =
Many, many slap fights between my coworkers over who’s being cheap with Tryndamere, Armor Lock, NoobTubes, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Might not be the best Independence Day, but it’ll be the most memorable for those of us who didn’t get completely wasted.
