Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta Charts Tomorrow

Uncharted 3

Now that the post E3 haze is finally starting to lift and the summer gaming season is in full swing, another distraction looms over us all: Uncharted 3’s multiplayer beta drops tomorrow for PSN Plus members, which should be everyone out there with a PS3, thanks to Sony’s Welcome Back program. So no excuses. I expect to see you all out there so I can shoot you in the face just like all my friends.

For those of you who didn’t bother trying Uncharted 2’s MP, take it from me, it’s pretty fun. A neat combination of Gears of War with the vertical element of Uncharted’s climbing mechanics thrown in for good measure, I always had a blast. Eddy joined me for some co-op and I believe he can attest to this as well.

The details of the beta are as follows:

  • Starts tomorrow, June 28th for PSN Plus subscribers, July 4th for the rest of PSN and runs until July 13th.
  • Co-op and competitive maps will be rotated throughout the beta, as detailed in the link below.
  • You will receive rewards for playing the beta that will carry over to the full game upon it’s release.

I have to say, I’m pretty excited. Now I have to rush and finish Half Life 2 ASAP, so I can start on this. Check out the link below for more details, including some information about the MP features, which is awesome because being clueless about what the hell is going on always annoys me about betas. So… who’s with me???

  1. More information is that it’ll be released around 2pm PDT or 5pm EST. I’ll be downloading this one for sure.
    PSN: Buttered_Corn

  2. Sqeeeeee!

I’d actually forgotten about this! I can’t wait to play it, the videos they’ve been releasing have been tantalising (I’m glad to see micro-customisation so I can put different stocks (STOCKS of all things!) on my guns). Those power plays also sound pretty interesting (one kill in it was always annoying, lol).

My PSN ID is SkubaPatr0l (the o is a zero, and if you add me let me know you’re from here rather than some random guy on CoD or BFBC, lol).

Could there be a GamerSushi Night for this mebbe?

  3. I’ll probably be checking this out, I never bothered with UC2’s multiplayer. Although what the hell is the deal with the ability to turn yourself into a swarm of spiders and attack people? That sounds like the stupidest idea ever.

Kinda sounds like rushing through sex so you can have crab. I’m sure crab is great too.

  5. I got a code last night and tried downloading the beta. It was downloading at a ridiculously slow speed. Wasn’t able to try it out, yet.

  6. Played it last night, the next day from my last comment, and it was really fun. There is a level that starts out with a cargo plane rumbling down a runway with 7 or so trucks following it weaving in and out. Every time I played I started out in the trucks, and you are shooting guys who are jumping from truck to truck, as you do the same, and getting into the plane to get some more kills. It was thrilling and pretty badass. Eventually the plane takes off and the rest of the level plays out in some fenced-off area with dilapidated buildings while you shoot the other team. It’s really fun with the traversal elements, trying to get high ground over the other team or rolling away quickly to reload. Also, during the match, a new ‘game’ (the new power plays) will start that lasts about one minute where you have to protect a player, or kill the other teams targeted player, or double damage will start for a minute for a team that is losing pretty badly. There is also a treasure icon that will pop up on screen that if you run to it and get there first, you get an extra $1000 which you use to buy upgrades and shit.

It’s fun. Though i wish the shooting was just a little “better”. I found I had to lead my target more than what I found “natural” and it is taking me a while to get used to it.
