The GamerSushi Show, Ep 28: R2-Cast2

GamerSushi shot first!

I’m a little late in posting this, so my apologies to Nick, who edited it, and all of you that are no doubt going into the shakes from desperation. Like you do. I know that’s how much you like hearing us chat about games and acting the fool.

We recorded this episode back in Star Wars week, so the big portion of the beginning is all about that fair series, and what games we loved that came out of the beloved Star Wars universe. We have a pretty lively discussion about it, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the nerdery.

Other topics of the podcast include the Mass Effect 3 delay, Assassin’s Creed 3 and more. Nick drops in with a game of grades, where we rate some of the goings-on around the industry. So yeah. Typical podcast stuff.

Go on, dudes. Listen, rate and enjoy.

  1. Great cast guys, up to it’s usual standard.
I can’t think of anything else to say 🙁

  2. Wow, up for two days and no comments yet? Poor effort sushi-ans. Maybe we’re all in shock because Eddy said’s closing the site 🙂

Funny story about Shadows of the Empire. I had that game when I was 10 or so, and being so young and inexperienced in the ways of gaming I got stuck on the 3rd level or something ridiculous. Put the game aside and played something else for a couple of months, came back to SotE and somehow all the level had been unlocked. No idea how or why, but I was happy.

Also, Star Wars Demolition was awesome, my best friend and I put some serious hours into that game

  3. Nice run down on the Star Wars games.

Rouge Squadron had to be one of the fondest memories I’ve ever had with retro-games. Surprised no one talked about it. Shadows was so confusing though, damn extended universe.

  4. Great cast as always, gents. It was a long Friday afternoon at work without the cast to get me through, but ultimately it was at least as good to have it for the Monday slog. Also, I love when you guys incorporate comments from the site into your discussions. Especially mine. Hooray, nepotism!

The Star Wars games bit was great, brought back a lot of memories and had some surprising moments (Star Wars Demolition?!?). The gaming binge portion was timely as well, as the family’s heading out of town without me in a couple of weeks, and I’ll be facing the opportunity for some marathon gaming for the first time in a long while.

    As for the grades:
AC:Rev – B – More of a good thing, though probably maxed out after this one.
    BF3 – F – No explanation needed.
SWTOR Delay – A – Objectively, it has to be amazing out of the gate, though I don’t have a personal stake.
Iwata’s admission – A – Nintendo addressing their missteps makes the future of Project Cafe look a little brighter.

  5. Seriously, stop being graphics whores. It’s fucking embarrassing. Nintendo has been shitty because of no third party support, shitty controllers leading to shitty controls, and no online support. These things that, you know, actually fucking matter to video games, were skimmed over in favor of terrible jokes about subpar graphics for the generation. I think all of you should know that looks aren’t everything.

    1. We’ve talked about all of those things at length on the podcast before. We just kind of went where the conversation took us, and sometimes that means getting excited about graphics. It’s a part of gaming like anything else. The funny thing is, I don’t even remember this podcast all that much. Sorry to have made you so angry, bro.

  6. @defteats you can’t blame us for wanting to look at something pretty? personally I would rather be a graphics whore than get super pissed off just because someone likes there games to look good. Bad graphics CAN effect gameplay as well as immersion, sometimes the graphics are needed to point out clues and hints, I am really REALLY glad that point-and-click adventure games look as realistic(or cartoony) as they do now because it means I don’t have to screen sweep for that one tiny pixel that I have to pick up. the whole point of a game like Amnesia, or Bioshock, or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is the atmosphere. if the graphics were bad then the atmosphere would be bad and there would be no reason to play it because the atmosphere is 90% of what sucks you into the world and hooks you on the good story telling and gameplay.
