Gears of War 3 Beta Featurette

The Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta kicks off to full effect in just two weeks, so that means it’s time for Epic to start a bit of a pre-roll on the hype train.

That train kicks off with a new beta featurette titled Dedicated Execution. As much as I sometimes ignore these kinds of things, this one actually shows off lots of brand new multiplayer footage. Interestingly enough, there seems to be an emphasis on melee combat, which is a cool enhancement for the Gears series, especially given the penchant for curb-stomping that it’s known for.

While I’ve enjoyed Horde mode more than anything else about Gears of War’s multiplayer, this looks pretty fun. The game drops in September, which will probably be here before we know it.

  1. I. CANNOT. WAIT!! Next to Halo Gears is my all time favorite multiplayer. In Gears 2 they had some mistakes such as slowing down the player, knock down smoke grenades, glitches, and poor matchmaking that kept it from realizing its potential, but after playing this at PAX I can say for certain that this will be the most polished Gears game of all the three for sure. Can’t wait to play the beta Friday, I’ll be sure to tell you guys how awesome it is!

  2. Ive been playing a lot of Gears 2 lately, Ive found I enjoy social slightly more then ranked. Gears is a game where if I stop playing for a couple months I end up about as good as I was day one (not very). In between the beta and the games release I plan on making a push to get all the Horde achievements.

Is it me or does the thumbnail for the video look like Rod Fergusson is becoming a zombie starting at his hand
