GamerSushi Asks: What Are You Playing?

Demon's Souls

Howdy, gamers. How was your weekend?

Now that I’m finished with Dragon Age 2, there seems to be a bit of a brief lull between Bioware’s not-quite-as-epic fantasy RPG and the sequel to Valve’s runaway hit, Portal 2, which releases on April 18th. As such, I now have some time to chip away at the always growing pile-o-games that awaits me at each and every turn.

The games I’m currently playing: Final Fantasy VI, Beyond Good and Evil HD, Infinity Blade and Demon’s Souls. I also plan on starting Torchlight on XBLA as well as Back to the Future on PC. I might even throw a bit of Lost Odyssey in there for good measure. The game I’m most curious about is Demon’s Souls, the uber challenging PS3 exclusive that I keep hearing horror stories about from Anthony. So far, it seems pretty interested, but I’m admittedly not very far into it.

So what about you guys? What are you playing at the moment? Has anyone else out there completed Dragon Age 2? Thoughts? Any Demon’s Souls advice for me? Go!

  1. I’ve been playing Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, Super Meat Boy, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, and I plan on playing a bit of The Sims 3, since I remember playing The Sims back when it first came out and finding entertainment in that.

  2. I finished Dragon Age 2 at about 12.30am (ie. This morning) even though I had school. One night won’t hurt, right? Whilst I thknk that Origins is better I still thought it was definitely worth my time and I can’t wait to see what the DLCs have to offer.
My friends have been bitching to me to play BFBC agakn as I went from Mass Effect into Dragon Age so they’ve been minus an assault. I may also do some KZ3 multiplayer while I’m at it.

  3. Crysis 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Pokemon Black. Oh, and a little Infinity Blade here and there. Beat the God King, finally.

  4. Dragon Age 2, some Minecraft on the side, and Gears 2 so I can try to get back in form for the beta

  5. @Julez, ha, that’s the same thing I’m doing in BFBC:2. A little tip for most of the guns like the G3 and the Thompson: they’re totally useless on full auto. Fire them like a semi-automatic (continually click the mouse button over and over) and your shots will be super accurate.

  6. I’ve been playing Gray Matter on my new PC. Pretty cool, if a little slow-moving. Nice story, though, with puzzles that actually make sense with the narrative.

    About advice for Demon’s Souls.

    1. On your first time through, you might want to avoid playing in body form. The online community has taken a bit of a hit (ethics-wise) since its release, and new players at low levels stand a good risk of getting invaded by low level experienced players with uber-powerful weapons. You can’t get invaded in soul form. However, you also can’t play with others, so it’s your choice.

    2. If you know someone who plays and wants to help, get them to go through it with you. It’s very enjoyable even if you can’t talk to them. Random helpers can be good, too, but they might just charge through the level leaving you to wonder what just happened.

    3. You can get frustrated if you want, but don’t give up…it’s worth it.

    4. Add me if you want. PSN: doyourealize and Sh_Gruen

  7. @ Jullez Mitch, I gave up on that ages ago. Instead, I platinumed my G3 and my 1911. The G3 is awesome when you get the hang of it. Also it means you can use C4s when playing as an assault. This is great as in BFBC1 I was a specialist. I think that’s what it was called. It’s just so thrilling sneaking up on a tank or an APC and planting 2/3 C4s and then running away.

  8. I love running up on tanks with C4, or the repair tool. Oddly enough, dismantling tanks is just as effective, if not more so, as a few rockets to the treads.

Eddy, you cannot make a single thread that I can’t turn into a FAQ.

  9. Oh I’m done with the G3 and Thompson, I’m doing all the sniper rifles… Taking me forever because I hate playing sniper, too boring. Rushing around and no-scoping people sure leads to plenty of “AIMBOT” cries. Would be more fun if I had people I knew to play with instead of randoms!

  10. I’m finally getting around to Uncharted, gradually working through Mass Effect 2, and still picking at Final Fantasy XIII like an old scab.

dp, awesome to hear good things about Gray Matter. I was a Jane Jensen fanatic back in the Gabriel Knight days, looking forward to giving her long-delayed return a spin.
