The GamerSushi Show, Ep 18: The Jam of War

Here’s the podcast. You know the drill.

The podcast is all grown’s up this week now that we’re on episode 18, so it’s legal. Jeff had to skip out on this podcast because he hates us, or was busy, I don’t really remember which. We recorded this last week, so our topics reflect that. We chat about broken systems, gaming innovation, Killzone 3 and more. Check out the list of topics below. Nick also brings us a game of fill in the blank, where I curb stomp the competition the way I always do in these affairs.

Give it a listen and please rate the podcast on iTunes as well.

The topics of our new adult episode:

Intro
Broken Console Woes
The Length of Console Generations
Treyarch: Problems with the Industry

Fill in the Blank
Killzone 3 with move controls is ____.
Ubisoft re-releasing HD versions of their games is ____.

  1. WORST PODCAST EVAR!!!!!!1!!1!

(FYI: I was conked out asleep when they ‘casted because I’d stayed up until 4am the night before. No reason.)

  2. Innovative games that fail, people will point at and say it tried too hard, like Brutal Legend. But games that were effectively innovative like Portal, people will love it extra. So yeah, people will love and hate innovation.

See, Anthony even admits he hates innovation! He doesn’t want to use Move controls and replace the controller! (I joke)

    Great podcast boys.

haha, I love innovation, but I don’t count motion controls as such.

  4. Good cast guys, love coming home from work every Friday with a new podcast to chill to!

I think with your discussion about innovation is that there seems to be a decent amount of innovation, yet it’s all on the little things, such as streamlining current IP, ie: Call of Duty, making things run smoother, faster, better.

What the industry really needs is to focus on gameplay innovation in a big way, mechanics, presentation, overall concept. That kind of stuff.

  5. Yay, you liked my joke!
@ Anthony, my PS3 broke 3 times in 3 MONTHS. Got a new one for Christmas. I know your pain.
FTR, my PS2 still works too. Simplicity FTW!

    I would be in jail.

  7. The study about gamers being more dangerous drivers is ____.
Eddy, I’m the same way. I play GT5 and suddenly feel like I’m awesome at driving, and when I drive my car I use my gamer skills to take corners as if I am racing…brake early, throttle control, exit with speed. And Anthony, I’ve been in similar situations where I attribute fast reflexes from playing GTA… like, near death situations avoided because I’ve done this before in a video game. This is the first podcast I’ve listened to, and I really enjoyed it. Good stuff dudes.
So, to fill in the blank, I’d say gamers are dangerous drivers when they attempt to drive like they do in a game…and they are the best defensive drivers because they have been in so many messed up situations in games, it just comes naturally in real life!
Is anyone else excited about Steam coming the PS3 like me?
