GamerSushi Asks: Resurgent Games

Halo: Reach

I’m sure it’s happened to all of us: we beat a game, put the disc back in the box and set it back on our shelf, sure that it’s going to gather dust or end up as trade in fodder at GameStop. Yet something stops us from trading it in, and a while later, be it a few weeks or even a couple months, that game is back in your console or on Steam, once again sucking up your time.

Lately for me this game has been Halo: Reach. I started playing it on a whim about a week ago, and I’ve ranked a couple of times and have been investing more now in the Theater mode than ever before. I’ve even come to appreciate the Challenge system more, even after whining about it when I was stuck in the Warrant Officer hump a few months ago.

Has this phenomenon ever happened to you, and for which game? Go!

  1. Well, that’s happened to me with 3 games in recent memory. Those would be Rome Total War (My personal favorite since my rig can run it with all the bells and whistles turned on), Mass Effect 1 (I just sat down one day and BAM! Next thing I knew I was 20 hours in), and finally, Far Cry 2 (Now, this is mainly because a friend wants to borrow it but still, it’s fantastic game that I enjoy playing)

  2. MGS4 and Uncharted 2 are exactly that for me not only for there respective universes that draw me in,but for there multiplayer components that are unique in a sense compared to others that have been released. Got to about level 40 or so on Uncharted 2 multiplayer and got cqc ex for MGO.

  3. @ Nero, well done on the MGO cqc ex.
MGO is one I also return to. I dread getting those updates again by the way, but I’m zure I’ll do it eventually. I’ll also echo Uncharted 2 but only for the single player component. My friends and I have been meaning to do some BFBC2 again as soon as we all get Vietnam. In addition to this Oblivion and the most recent COD games keep me coming back.

  4. Fallout 3, Halo CE, Persona 3, Golden Sun 1+2, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Call of Duty 4, BFBC2, Left 4 Dead, and a lot more before recently.
