GamerSushi Asks: What Are You Playing?

Fallout New Vegas

It’s that time again, folks. The time where all of us check in and talk about the games we are playing. Or in my case, the games we wish we were playing. At the moment, I happen to be in the middle of a self-imposed ban of all things gaming until I finish a certain stupid novel I’m writing. But believe me, there are games I wish I could get my hands on.

For one, Fallout: New Vegas unfurls its Sin City makeover this week, and I’m kind of itching to see if Obsidian picks up the mantle from Bethesda in a meaningful way. While at first I was skeptical of the game, all of the material I’ve seen from it lately give me hope, so I’m anxious to get some playing time with it. In addition to that, I would like to play Dead Rising 2 and of course, Halo: Reach. Surprisingly, though, the game I’ve been dying to play most of all over the last few days? Final Fantasy VII. The music has been stuck in my head, and now I just want to relive the magic for some reason. Soon.

Anyway, go ahead and tease me with all of the great games you guys are playing that I’m not. Rub it in my face. Tell me how much fun it is. I won’t cry… much. What are you guys playing? Go!

  1. Actually I am in a similar boat with you. I am currently taking my first two college courses and they are destroying any semblance of free time I used to have. Not to mention band practices and comps taking up 5 days a week. No time to fit anything into that schedule. I been dying to see what is new with TF2 but I can not do that in good conscience.

  2. Simply Starcraft 2 and almost nothing else. I have been so hooked that it actually scares me at what it’s done to my life, I havnt been this addicted to a game in a long time. Probably since red dead came out

  3. Between work, school, and life it’s hard to find time for games but I’m defiantly making some for Fallout New Vegas. So excited to play it. I’m looking forward to reading GamerSushi’s opinion on it too.

The only other recent game played was the MOH beta on steam which was alright, felt too much like Bad Company 2 though without the crazy fun destructible terrain.

  4. Well, seeing as how I’ve sold practically everything in my name to Gamestop for Black Ops (minus GTA IV and my computer games,) I’ve just been playing whatever I could find. Mainly being World at War (on the PC) and the older Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2/Mysteries of the Sith.

  5. Just finished the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC for Mass Effect and OH MY GOD! So great, and now I’m wondering why you didn’t mention the terminals at the end of the DLC on the podcast, Eddy. That was one of my favorite parts, seeing all the dirt on my teammates.

I’m getting the DLC just because of that sentence. : D

Anyways, most definetely getting New Vegas, huge fan of Fallout 3 and all the DLC’s, so this one is a must-have.
Also, I really enjoyed reading the GamerSushi review about Castlevania, so probably will get my hands on that one too.
Now, if to stick to the topic, i started playing oblivion on 360. Have finished it on PC, but wanted to try it on sexbox aswell, not to mention getting achievements from a game, which totally kicks a*s no matter how much you have played it. 🙂

  7. Playing Uncharted 2 multiplayer I’m actually surprised that I’m good at it. Red Dead is getting more play time so I can be less rusty when Undead Nightmare comes out. I’m considering trading in F3Goty for New Vegas, but i love it so much I can’t decide.

  8. Im sad to say the only games Ive played in the last couple weeks have been flash games while I listened to the podcast. Both consoles went down, if my xbox isnt sent back soon I might resort to playing farmville… lol Im just kidding itll never get that bad

  9. Just finished playing the Point Lookout expansion for Fallout 3 and after reading one of the first reviews for New Vegas, I don’t know if I can resist the temptation to go buy it today. Considering that I’ve sunk more than 100 hours into Fallout 3 and would rather explore the Capital Wasteland for no tangible reward (maxed out level and equipment) than play almost any other game I own (and my backlog is considerable), I think New Vegas would probably be a worthwhile investment.

  10. Taking a break from a dense pile of RPG backlog to play some shorter format stuff. Currently playing Limbo and Tales of Monkey Island.

  11. Mostly Halo: Reach and Dead Rising 2, with some Medal of Honor multiplayer on Steam.

Got the Monument to All Your Sins cheevo on Reach, so pretty happy about that. Medal of Honor isn’t that great, because everyone snipes, all the time. Seriously, even in close combat. It is ridiculous. Also, using two different engines for the single player and the multiplayer was a strange decision. There’s a huge disconnect between the two.

  12. Castlevania – Lords of Shadow, Dead Rising 2, Resident Evil 0 and the Gamecube remake of RE. Soon to be playing, Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2.

  13. Just got home from work, Steam is decrypting Fallout:New Vegas right now… Can’t wait to get my teeth in that one. Other than that, same old. CS on the regular, jumping into BFBC2 when I get bored of that, Audiosurf for some new albums I picked up over the weekend.

  14. Playing WoW, MoH and soon Fallout. I gave MoH Multiplayer a second try and it’s actually really fun. Have to turn off the CoD/Halo tactics. No running around corners guns blazing. Have to be slow, patient and tactical. If you do that, it’s a blast! Single player was passable. Looking forward to Fallout tonight!

I kind of did mention it, but I didn’t want to spoil. When I was talking about the game as an epilogue with some teases towards ME3, that’s basically what I was referring to. Those terminals were great, and really gave you some cool info on how your teammates are doing. I loved them so much.

  16. Well actually, I’ve been playing the first Halo game. It SO amazing for something 10 years old. I dunno why I started playing it, I just did.

I really enjoyed seeing Legions various gaming profiles on online games and the games he played. Like “Code of Honor: Medal of Duty” amongst others. And I felt like was creeping on Miranda with some of her stuff lol.

  18. I’m playing through Borderlands finally on the PC, picked it up for ten bucks on steam a few months back, finally getting around to playing it. Been getting through Red Dead Redemption in anticipation of the zombie dlc and i’ve also been working on some Halo:Reach MP however I haven’t started the single player yet.

I’m a graphic design major in college and most of my playing is not heard of these days. too much work!

  19. waiting for Fallout New Vegas to come in the mail, and finally getting all the bobbleheads in fallout 3. And ME2

  20. My PS3 broke last week and it should be fixed by the end of this week (or the start of next week at the latest). I’ve been keeping my sanity by catching up on unread novels (I just read George Orwell’s ‘1984’: Simply superb!) and watching the ‘Mad Men’ seasons 1-3 boxsets which arrived last Thursday. Eddy, I now know what you mean about that sermon on nostalgia, it was fantastic. As soon as I get my PS3 back it’s back to BFBC2 as usual and I may pick up the new Medal Of Honour (hearing mixed views on it, but the multiplayer sounds good) or else New Vegas. Or Vanquish. Argh! There’s too many games I want!

  21. New Vegas. It’s cool. I love iron sights.
It feels more Fallout 1 and 2-y than Fallout 3. I love the new features and environment, and I’m glad Fallout 3 will preserve its place in my heart. It just feels different than New Vegas, and that’s a good thing, really.
