The GamerSushi Show, Ep 10: Percentify

PercentWhat’s that? Two podcasts in one month? Welcome to generosity. Or just bored dudes with too much time on their hands. Either way, you get more podcast goodness. In this edition of the GamerSushi podcast, we chat about iPhone gaming, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Dead Rising 2, the 25th anniversary of the NES and play a hilarious game of percentages, hosted by the bearded one himself.

The exciting thing about this podcast and the last one for us is that we finally feel like we’re getting closer to figuring out the best format for what we do, and could maybe turn this into a weekly venture with some more practice and a few tweaks. I’m digging the “over/under” and “percentage” type games, and hope you find them just as enjoyable.

As always, please go rate this cast on iTunes and subscribe with the handy links to the right. Enjoy!

This week’s topics:

What Are You Playing?

Angry Birds and iPhone gaming
Dead Rising 2 and originality in game design
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and old school gaming
Our favorite NES games

Percentages
Black Ops versus MW2
Bioware’s supposed $300 million price tag for The Old Republic
Dota 2 and Half-Life 2 Episode 3
Nintendo 3DS price drop?
Gran Turismo 5 actually coming in 2010?

As always, this doesn’t scratch half of what actually transpired in the old casting of pods, so really you should just listen to it yourself to hear our dulcet tones and melodic beats… or something like that.

The big question: What do you guys think of our percentage predictions? Who do you think is right, and what are your guesses about each of these issues?

Thanks for listening!

  1. The percentages game was great, hope it returns. It was a well spent hour and 45 minutes and I dont think Id be that mad if GT5 turned out to be a fps lol

  2. Ahhhh, podcast, tasty and refreshing. The console nostalgia part was awesome – Base Wars and Mutant League sports brought back so many memories. On the topic 8-bit nostalgia, one of my favorites was The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which had nothing to do with the book. This one had battles with a giant octopus, a color-changing gorilla, and a cloud-riding fight with a zeppelin. In retrospect, it was a pretty mediocre, bare-bones platformer with largely crappy graphics, but the wtf factor made up for everything.

As for the percentages – I like the concept. It’d be cool to have a running accuracy score for each participant, weighted by how right on (or far off) the predictions were. Of course, some of the questions won’t be resolved anytime soon…

  3. Awesome podcast as always guys. The percentages game is a pretty cool idea, hope to hear it again. 5 stars.

That was hilarious hearing you guys literally relive past awesome video game experiences.

I wouldn’t be mad if GT5 turned out to be an FPS. But I’d be pissed if it became an MMORPG.

  4. Glad you guys are liking the new “games” we’re running during the podcast. I think it helps us to go through the news in a more interesting manner, rather than just going around about it for 5 to 10 minutes on each topic.

Also, Andrew, I feel like I vaguely remember that Tom Sawyer game…
