GamerSushi Asks: Give Us Your Feedback!

Every now and then, we like to see what you guys think about how things are going on the site, because ultimately, this place is about the community here and how we all interact. I think enough time has passed since the last time we did this, so I wanted to ask the question again: care to give us some feedback?

Here are some questions to consider:

1. What kinds of features would you like to see more of?
2. How often do you check this site?
3. What would you like to see more coverage of (within reason, of course)?
4. Do you want more/less updates?
5. What would make this place even more awesome?

Seriously, we’d love to hear what you guys think. Don’t be afraid to leave some criticism, as long as it is constructive. We’re all about making this place even better. We have some cool ideas for the future, and Nick is already working on a new layout that will really put the cool discussions you guys create front and center, with almost equal value to the posts themselves.

So, let’s hear it. Go!

  1. 1. I’d like to be able to see on the main page who had posted last on each article, instead of clicking it and leaving it load to check. I know it can be under “Recent Comments” if you catch it on time, but right under the article title would be a nice touch (like forums).

    2. Is it geeky to say about 3 times a day? I have a system where I check all my important stuff (business/work emails, facebook etc) and this site is in my Opera browser “speed dial” so it’s part of that system!

    3. Indie games, as I see you guys just posted something. I love to buy them on Steam, that’s something I really like to pay for. Machinarium is one of the best games I’ve played in a long while.

    4. More updates would be fine. Certainly not less.

    5. Knowing who’s online reading when you’re online (again, similar to forums). Really liking the podcasts too, I was hoping you guys would get into them and they’ve been absolutely great so far.

Keep it up, and Thank you. You’re pretty much my only source for gaming news because a) I’m not that hardcore to get magazines or wade through the big sites and b) I really appreciate the no-bullshit atmosphere and the dudes here.

CS led me to Leet World, which led me here when you guys started it. Again, gotta thank one of the best games ever!

  2. 1. I’m always a big fan of would you rather.
    2. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and if I get bored sometimes a few other times.
    3. I think coverage is fine.
    4. Maybe only a little bit more. It is GamerSushi, after all, which is byte sized bits, I wouldn’t like for the site to become GamerSteak.
    5. I think Nick needs to come out of his whole and comment more haha.

  3. 1. Fanboy rants, GameCop Vs LameCop, and Today’s WTF.

    2. Once or twice or thrice a day depending on how board I am.

    3. more indie games or just overlooked games like the Penumbra series or the Witcher. while this may be a bit much to expect from you guys but I think it would be cool if you could have a user review for games that you have played, you would have to screen for quality though which could be a pain in the arse.

    4. A little.

    5. I think it would be cool to have another take on each review, for example, in the Final Fantasy XIII review it would be cool to see Anthony’s take on it (since he would be the fanboy). Or on Heavy Rain I noticed that both Anthony and Mitch thought an A would be a better score and it would be cool to have each of your score’s at the bottom with one paragraph explaining why. also it would be cool to have a second opinions post once a month to go over last months games and which ones stud up against time better, example l4d was short but could be played for a long time due to the AI Director, but a game like mgs 4 you said “its lasting impressions have really faded…[and you] remember more of what the game did poorly than what it did well.

I really appreciate what you guys have done with this site, it is a wonderful cool refreshing pond that gamers around the world can relax at and rant together without worrying about the trolls that lurk in the other lakes

    Cheers, Gadfly Jim

  4. 1. I think it would be cool to pick two games to pit “against” each other, and then everyone gives their opinion on which game is better.

    2. Twice a day

    3. See Gadflys Post

    4. More, you can never have too many updates!

    5. User reviews as suggested earlier.

  5. 1. Lamecop vs Gamecop.

    2. Very often/ Randomly. Atleast once a day.

    3. Games. Smart ass-ness intended.

    4. Preferably not.

    5. More people maybe.

  6. 1. I’d really love to see the PC Community Night come to existence… Also, contests. The prize could be writing an article, or a game.

    2. 5 times a day. Not ashamed to say it.

    3. More “WTF” and funny stuff… and sure, some LOLcats…

    4. I think the current flow is good enough. But a little more wouldn’t hurt, right?

    5. Chat box. Do it.

  7. Oh and I just realized an edit button would be nice, because I used “whole” instead of “hole”.

  8. 1) I came up with an idea for a feature called “What Would You Do?” [working title, it could also have a Silent Protagonist or DM reference thrown in there] where you (Gamersushi) post a gameplay feature or story element from a game, whether it’s flawed or well-done, and asks the community to share what they would have done differently or to improve. For example, “Modern Warfare 2’s killstreaks can be overwhelming at times. How would you approach the killstreaks? Would you make them less powerful? Let everyone have a Stinger on hand at all times? Take out some of the killstreaks? Explain.” and people would say what they would do to balance the feature, or explain why they wouldn’t change it.
I’d also like to see more frequent Pop Quizzes because it’s fun to really analyze myself as a gamer and to see other people’s perspectives.
Ooh! And we gotta have more Community Game Nights! Ideally, it should be every Friday night. That’d be sex.

    2) At least once a day, typically twice a day to see if I missed anything that day or to listen to a podcast once I find some free time.

    3) Bewbs. No. Well maybe. Ahem. I think you guys do a good balance of gaming culture, gaming history, and current gaming events. And if there is room to improve, I’d say try to reach an equilibrium of all the three facets.

    4) MOAR IZ GUDD! Although honestly, it is fun to

    5) Bewbs. No. Well…I’ll get back to you on that. Overall, this site is great as it is. More articles and article types are cool, but I just don’t want to be flooded with unnecessary crap like…Stock Tickers or something. A Health Bar would be cute, though.

Thanks for reading my thoughts! Now get out of my head!!

  9. [Edit]

In my pseudo-sexual excitement to post my comment, I forget to finish 4. I’m-I’m sorry. (<– Sexiest line ever.)

    Ahem.

    4) MOAR IZ GUDD! Although honestly, it is fun to have a small community of cool guys who are all active and have good insights into gaming culture and whatnot.

  10. 1) More Polls… I like voting. More rumors/predictions like the E3 one going on now.

    2) Every single day.

    3) Maybe more games that slip under the radar (I am aware this means most indie games).

    4) More posts please.

    5) This site definately needs advertisements… not really, but there’s not much I can think of that hasn’t already been said above me so I’ll just leave it at that.
