GamerSushi Asks: Games You Miss?

Final Fantasy 13I just spent a whole weekend in Austin, Texas for South By Southwest Interactive, the glorious tech and social media festival. I got to experience a whole lot of awesome things like hanging with some folks from Revision3, Burnie Burns from RoosterTeeth, and fans of Web Zeroes.

However, one thing I didn’t get a lot of: video games. As much fun as I ended up having, whenever I’m separated from gaming for a few days or more I start to go a little nuts. All weekend long, I couldn’t stop thinking about Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s sweet multiplayer and Final Fantasy 13. Despite its opening story issues and inherent Japanese-ness, Final Fantasy 13 is still tickling at a bone that doesn’t get tickled too often these days. I’m not sure what it is, but even though I had some complaints about the opening chapters, I keep finding myself drawn back to it.

So, what games do you guys start to miss when you have to get away from gaming for too long? What are you playing right now?

  1. Only when I’ve bought a new game and I haven’t got any time to play it. Any other time, I just couldn’t care less. I game to relax, just as I listen to good music or watch great movies or read brilliant books, I game. If I can’t get enough of gaming, I get some reading. For me, gaming is more of a way to relax, than just plain gaming. Maybe I don’t belong here ?

  2. Man, right now it’s Mass Effect one. I need to beat it. Like, really bad. I don’t know what it is.

And BC2’s multiplayer, but that goes without saying.

  3. Oh geez, I haven’t played TF2 nearly enough. And I fell back on playing Fallout 1 and 2, so in fact I’m gonna go load those babies up right now.

  4. After a really long break from games, I generally start missing the originals (of my growing up), a long with some CSS and Oblivion. And, right now I’m playing a plethora of games because I’m actually going to try playing all my old Computer games (Mechwarrior, Dark Forces, Quake 2! etc etc)

  5. Basically I need my rpg fill once in a while, I just get this itch that I want to play a rpg. usually its morrowind or oblivion, but when it is kotor 1,2, or jade empire, it sucks cause I only have it on xbox. My xbox is broken, aaahhh the dispair.

  6. @ Anthony, I have a friend who’s as much of a FF fan as you (well, as close as humanly possible lol) and has been on FF13 almost non-stop. He’s unemployed right no and says he’s glad of it so he can play FF13 and Yakuza 3!
Anyhow, during school my friends and I wont shut up about BFBC2 and that makes us want to play it more! But we can’t really get a four-man squad set up often enough as there are 5 of us. DICE should patch in a variation of the squad modes to accomodate people with 4 friends rather than 3.
