GameStop Actually Offering Good Trade-In Value

GameStopYes, you read that right. The video game superstore giant is currently offering a ridiculous trade-in special, and everyone that’s even remotely thinking of parting with some games should go take advantage of it. As Anthony pointed out the other day, this Spring is actually ripe with games for us to pick, and everyone should experience them together.

What’s the trade-in deal, you ask? Well, GameStop is actually offering 50% more than normal for trade-ins. If you are an Edge card member, you get an additional 10%. The best part of all this is that the deal is going to last for the next 3 weeks. You can do what Nick did today: trade in 2 games to purchase Heavy Rain, which he plans on beating this week, and then trading back to get Final Fantasy XIII. With the additional trade-in value, such schemes are more than possible.

So, who else is going to take advantage of this? My plan is to trade in Modern Warfare 2 to purchase Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

  1. ooh this is sweet, maybe they would except my old xbox. I have 10 old games too. could get like 5 dollars,

  2. Just to give you an idea:

    Traded in:
    Modern Warfare 2
    Bioshock
    Resident Evil 4 Wii
    Crackdown
    Dead Space
    FEAR 2

    Bought:
    Heavy Rain
    Batman: Arkham Asylum (used)
    Edge membership

I got $77 in credit for my trade-ins ($37 for MW2), used a $20 gift card and paid a whopping $20 total once I was done.

  3. Lol I work at Gamestop and this deal is going to open up the floodgates for us. The holiday depleted our used game stock, and now it’s just going to fill right back up. Dammit. But anyway I’m going to be doing the same as you Eddy, I’m just about fed up with CoD. Community night on BF anyone?

I’m not sure about your local store, but the store I work at does not accept old Xbox games or systems. I would call down there to check before you haul that hulking box just to be turned away.

  5. Traded in at least a total of 8 games (Most being Wii games, and Halo 3 ODST and Sonic Unleashed for 360) and pre ordered Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction, and also bought DBZ: Raging Blast, and all that included me getting a 12 month subscription to Game Informer and a new edge card for more deals. Best B-day week ever XD

  6. Wait, wait. You traded ODST in and the Reach beta is coming in May?

Anyways, I’m doing my own trade-in bonanza today. Assassin’s Creed II, Halo Wars, Halo 3, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Modern Warfare 2, something I probably forgot. Should be enough to get Bad Company 2…I smell another Game Night…

  7. Halo isn’t really my strong point anyways. Not to mention, it was the least played title in my game list, so I wanted to remove some clutter. Not to mention, I think BF: BC 2 and Splinter Cell with give me more days of fun

  8. Damn, I just wished I there was gamestop at the place where I live, and that I had more games to trade in 😀

Seriously, if you live anywhere BUT the states, your life as a gamer will be miserable.

  10. oooh, so I’m just stuck with that hunk of junk, I do play it sometimes with friends though. So it’s all good. Most of my games is through steam, and all the ones I’m looking at are probably going to be released that way also.

I have heard of that place, actually. Honestly, I’m surprised Dr. Doom lets you play video games.

Yeah, you kind of left the bastion of used games, Japan.

They have stores with sections that literally translate to” Shitty Games.

Trust me, they have more options than we do.
