Yeah dude, Mordin was by far my favorite character in the game, if not one of my favorite characters in any video game. The writing was done so spectacularly for him, and his singing bit slayed me I was laughing so hard.

Also, his side mission, agreed, is some of the best writing I've ever seen in a video game. I'm being honest. It was such a great character quest, but it also highlighted some really deep themes and discussions, mainly about the idea of no art, no progress, equals evil.

Great points Gadfly and glebe!

Mordin was great! Did anyone else have him sing? I thought he was one of the best done characters, and he had an actually engaging discussion about art.

I personally would have given it an S mainly because issues like mining and stuff are not as bad on the PC. I actually liked chatting with Thane, but Mordin Solus's personal mission was really a stand out moment for me. I would say that it was what impressed me the most about the game, because it really asked serious questions about abortion and other touchy subjects, and it really showcased how far games have come as far as being able to address mature subjects we see all the time in films and other art forms. for that reason alone I think that it is one of the best games I will play this year.

The big problem i had with the ending was the fact that it gave the SPOILER ALERT! Reapers a reason to commit genocide. In the last game, they were unknowable gods, in this one, you could understand them. And for a kind of a non compelling reason too. On the suicide mission note, the only person that died for me was Jack, because i sided with Miranda and lost her loyalty. Who did you guys romance, by the way?
I just finished the game tonight and I have to say, while I kind of understand the issues with the endgame, it honestly kept me on the edge of my seat. I had two characters die early on and it totally held me in suspense for the rest of the mission. I was wondering if anybody in my crew might die.
Would I be taking a leap of faith by guessing one of those killed was Morlan?

I have your back on the unskippable missions by the Illusive Man. My reaction (And alot of other people's I'm sure) was something akin to:

"NO JERKOFF, I WANT TO EXPLORE MORE! ASK ME LATER"

I look forward to how they'll approach mining and getting resources in the third game, since I can already tell mineral scanning probably will be the one thing most people will take an axe and sledgehammer to. Personally I would like to be rewarded for depleting every planet in the game; I expected more of a bonus than I got for all those minerals I found in the first game...and yes, I have too much time/no life to have depleted Every planet in the game. =)

I disagree at some points with the review, but most of all with your take on the suicide mission. While it could have been a little tighter, I really do like it how they left it up in the air so that if you 'overlooked' something or left a bad-apple or time-bomb amongst your team the whole mission could explode in your face. Just like in any good book or movie, you have to do everything in your power to get the team on board with the time you are given. My complaint about the mission, however, is that it was almost too easy - if you play as a completionist you are almost certainly going to walk away with the better part of your team - though I did like how you have to make tactical choices regarding your team rather than just having a quick trigger finger.

The character Quest very good I think, for while some characters may have at first glance appeared to be too 'cookie-cutter' their personal quests really gave me a feel for their personality and helped me to better empathise with them in the game (Jack's quest was a revelation in her character, while Samara's threw the curve-ball of needing a quick mind over a quick trigger.)

In closing, I would say this is everything a sequel could hope for, and that many other game franchises could learn from this (*cough* left 4 dead *cough*)
