Halo Legends Clip is a Thing You Can Watch

Most of you have probably figured this little factoid out already, but I am GamerSushi’s resident Halo fan-boy. I seriously loves me some Halo, so naturally you would figure that a series of animated shorts would be right up my alley.

Well, as anyone who becomes engrossed with a franchises’ fictional history can tell you, if you outsource a project to a collection of companies and they do not get it exactly right you will have a large amount of butt-hurt nerds on your hands. That sounds weird, but I digress. If you haven’t caught any of the Halo animes on Waypoint, now’s your chance to see what you haven’t been missing.

The full DVD/Blu-Ray (irony lol) release is in early Feburary, but I think I’ll pass. What about you guys?

  1. NO! I hate anime with a burning passion, but I had at least a slight bit of hope for this project, and look what they did! They did exactly every reason why I don’t like anime! The cheesiness is in full force and the animation is severely lacking. Now every PS3 fanboy is going to love throwing a huge can of kerosene on the fanboy fire after this releases.

  2. I may get this purely because I want an excuse to get a BRDVD to view it in its glory (not the ironic fanboy way btw).
Mitch, have you read, I think it’s the ‘Cole Protocol’ book? I’m missing a few of the novels but there are meant to be a few duds (a la The Flood).

  3. @SK Beans – You’re mad at a medium for pumping up the ‘cheesiness’ in something like HALO? Doesnt some unseen guy shoot cartoony monsters/aliens on a planet with a big ring around it? Yikes. Sounds like AnimΓ© material to me!

  4. Anime’s pretty great.

I could go on and on and on…
Granted, there’s loads of shitty anime too, but I could say the same about Hollywood movies or video games.

Don’t you dare say anime are bad! :<

  5. @Julez-I don’t think Halo is cheesy at all. You’re entitled to you opinion, but Halo has always had a rich story line especially in the books and comics that is everything but cheesy. People see this anime and they might think different.

  6. Yeah, I didn’t particularly post this video to start a “hate on anime” thread, and I’m glad we’ve been able to steer away from that. Like almost every one in my age group with similar interests I’ve watched anime at one point or another, and there is some pretty good stuff out there. The Halo Legends animes just aren’t among them.

@SkubaPatr0l Yeah, I’ve read the Cole Protocol, and it’s actually my least favorite of the Halo books. The recent collection of short stories had some pretty good stuff in it, though. The shorts by Karen Traviss and Eric Nylund were excellent.

@Julez No offense man, but you must save a lot of money on movie tickets. πŸ˜‰

  7. Haha, oh c’cmon. I’m just being a jerk. Everyone’s too friendly around here!

@Mitch I’m not really sure what you mean by saving money. No, I don’t get discounts when I go to the theater. I pay full price like everyone else.

But you are right, I don’t go to see films very often. I usually wait for the DVD so I can get all the sweet bonus features and watch in the comfort of my home.

  8. I meant that you’ve said that a lot of things like LotR, Star Wars, Halo and Mass Effect are all cheesy drivel, so you must not see a lot of movies.

Or maybe you do…you just don’t enjoy it, haha.

  9. @ Mitch, thanks for the recommendations. Would I be safer reading a plot summary for Cole Protocol on, say, Wikipedia?

  10. Get it from a library if you can, but yeah, I’d avoid it. You may have a different opinion on it, but compared to Nylund and Staten, Bucknell falls short. He’s better than the guy who did the adaption of Halo: CE, though.

But Halo: Evolutions is worth the read for sure. It’s got a lot of really good ones in there and only a couple that aren’t as great. If you do pick it up, I’d recommend not reading the story “Stomping on the Heels of a Fuss.” Really bad.

Oh, and avoid the comics too.

  11. weather or not you like anime or not doesn’t matter, that was pretty bad! speaking of good books you guys should consider doing an article on your top ten favorite books/series in each Genre or something like that as I am always looking for a good book to read.

  12. I don’t think a good halo product that you can watch could be made outside of a movie. There’s just so much there, and it has such a large fanbase that you really need to make it awesome or else. Also, seeing an actual drivable Warthog would be one of the coolest things ever.

  13. Eh, I thought it was okay. Aside from the Covenant weapon oddities, I didn’t think the Spartan doing backflips and crap was bad. Hell, in all the Halo games you have a floaty high-jump that I STILL haven’t found an explanation for.

I file this under “Could be worse”.

  14. @ Mitch and Anthony.

I like human stuff. I don’t like fantasy in general, stuff with magic, dragons and aliens. Unless the magic is bullet time and the dragon is Spyro.

in Film I love Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Pi, The Fountain), Tarantino for obvious reasons, Danny Boyle, and almost anything Jim Carrey is in.

There are lots of movies and games that aren’t anything like LOTR/Harry Potter/Final Fantasy/Halo =).

    Sweet. Just curious.
