Waiting for Dragons

dragon-ageTomorrow marks the release of Dragon Age: Origins and I honestly couldn’t be more excited. Through the recent release of the new Wheel of Time book, the Gathering Storm and Bioware’s new RPG tomorrow, I suddenly have a plethora of fantasy world experiencing to do.

I have to say that I’m a bit surprised by just how pumped I am for Dragon Age. It makes me realize just how long it’s been since I’ve played a really solid RPG. So far, the reviews are giving it great scores and my anticipation is at an all time high on the eve of release. I’m not sure what it is about a good RPG that gets my blood going, but whatever it is, Dragon Age has stoked that fire as well.

What about you guys? What game left on the holiday schedule are you jonesing for? And just for kicks, who else is in to fantasy? Got a favorite series?

  1. Oh, man, you’d better believe I’m hot to trot for this game as well. I purposely only went out two nights this weekend instead of three so I could afford this bad mama jama.

    Borderlands is a pretty good RPG (I gave it a B+, don’t cha know. That’s right, I’m pimping my own review on this site. How meta.), but I feel the need for some honest steel on orc action.

    I’m an avid reader of fantasy as well, Eddy. I recently got into a Song of Ice and Fire, and I’m loving it. I finished off a series called the Night Angel Trilogy a while back and that was a cracking good read as well.

    Oh yeah, and the Left 4 Dead 2 demo got me psyched for that game as well. And if Infinity Ward would stop the WTF carpet-bomb around MW2, I’d feel a bit more anticipation about that game.

  2. I’m really just waiting for Mordern Warfare 2. Don’t have any interest in the Magic stuff. Right now I’m playing Burnout: Paradise (a nice, easy change), some Rainbow Six: Vegas (The last R6 I played was 3) and a bit of the new Operation Flashpoint.

    It’s nice to play some new stuff. I hope that Dragon Age goes over well for you guys, I know how hard it is to find a worthy RPG these days.

  3. Xmas gift, again,lol. Can’t wait.

    Eddy, you hit the nail on the head. I have not had a traditional RPG game this entire generation and this is what I am aching for. It’s the reason I play games. Everything else is just filler for my RPGs.

    Mitch, have you heard of the Malazan Book of the Fallen?

  4. In terms of fantasy, I loved the ‘Bartimaeus Trilogy’ by Johnathan Stroud (I think it’s fantasy anyway). Looking forward to R&CF:ACiT and AC2 slipped off my radar for a while, but the ‘Assassin’s Creed: Lineage’ short got me pumped for it!

  5. Really? Do I need to answer?

    MODERN WARFARE 2!!!
    also, I’m equally psyched for Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2. I’ll be set for the whole year, man.

  6. I can’t wait to play this game! unfortunately I will have to wait until Christmas.

    oh and my room is filled with fantasy and science fiction books. I don’t really have a favorite series though.

    @Anthony
