Live Action Halo 3: ODST Short Premiers Tonight

Tonight at 10:30pm ET/PT, SPIKE TV is going to debut “We are ODST”, a live action short in the vein of “Landfall”, the Neill Blomkamp directed project from 2007.

This may be the first time that I can remember that I tuned in to specifically watch what is essentially a very elaborate commercial, but this is probably worth it. Who else is going to be watching this?

Edit: The full version is up for your enjoyment.

  1. I liked this short, because it was cool to see the man behind the mask, and how my perception of them changed when they just became faceless soldiers again.

  2. Wait, im in doubt.
    Was that just a teaser?
Because on Bungie.net and on IGN they mention it as a trailer.

  3. Ooooh. Me like. That’s some badass cinematography, and it’s just a trailer. Can’t wait for the game and movie!

  4. My channel guide doesn’t list the short on Spike at all…it lists CSI… Now if Grissom used a warthog to crush Doc Robbins, I’m definitely tuning in!

  5. From what I’m aware, Spike TV will simply be airing the short on television. The article I have linked says,

    “Monday, September 7 at 10:30 PM ET/PT
“HALO 3: ODST” LIVE-ACTION SHORT U.S. PREMIERE DURING SPIKE’S PREMIERE OF
    “BAND OF BROTHERS”
For the first time in the United States, see the 150 second live-action “Halo
3: ODST” short. Directed by Rupert Sanders (Halo 3: Believe), viewers are
immersed in the world of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.”

150 seconds isn’t a whole lot more than the 1 minute, 33 seconds we have viewed already. Who knows.

  6. Spike TV’s getting the full version, what we’ve seen on the internet is a little trimmed. Gets the point across quite well, though.

It’s unfortunate that this is only for US viewers. Oh well, I’m sure it’ll be all over YouTube within five minutes.

  7. I wonder what new footage could be aired in the little amount of time.

In any case, this is effective marketing on Microsoft/Bungie’s part. I felt myself saying, “DUDE! I WANT TO DO THAT!”, which of course is the reaction you want your customers to feel.

  8.
Seriously, I wonder why they don’t just make a movie already. This footage was incredible and proves that they can do it.
Took the words right out of my ‘fingers’.
They already have done couple of awesome live action shorts, why don’t they jus mash them up and make a movie!?

  9. I agree with eddy. It looked great. If they could make something like this but longer, I’d be pulled in.

I also knew it wouldnt be for us Canadians. Go figure. And as if SPIKE is going to be playing Band of Brothers… If any of you haven’t seen that show, go buy the DVD’s.

  10. apparently there was a movie but it got canceled because of terrible script. Think G.I. Joe but Halo.
