GamerSushi Asks: Guilty Pleasure Gaming

50centOk, that post title sounded much more dirty than I intended it to. Oh well. Anywho, every now and then there’s that game that comes along and surprises us with how fun it is. This isn’t exactly extraordinary, however, sometimes it’s a game that you might not be too particularly fond of admitting that you like.

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand has been that game for me this weekend. I know, I know, but hear me out. After a few weeks of hearing that this ridiculous game was actually kind of fun, I had to satisfy my curiosity and check it out, and lo and behold, it really is an enjoyable game. Ridiculous plot aside (50 Cent is hunting down Iraqi gangsters to find a diamond studded skull- yes, in Iraq- and yes, seriously), the game has some refreshing mechanics and plays like an arcade version of Gears of War. I was surprised by just how much I’ve been getting into it. I ended up playing it for about four hours yesterday.

So what about you guys? Have you ever had that guilty pleasure game that you weren’t too excited to come clean about to others? Go!

  1. I played that game about a month ago for the same reason! My friends ridiculed me for it, but I actually enjoyed it. I even got all of the achievements for it.

  2. There was some Jimmy Neutron game (I forgot the subtitle, if there was one) for the GBA/SP that I got for Christmas one year, and I couldn’t put it down. It was actually a pretty good platformer, and even sported some cool gameplay and graphics. Day n Nite (yeah, I went there) I’d play Jimmy Neutron nonstop, just blitzing through the levels, until finally I got stuck on this impossible “avoid the obstacles” kind of flying minigame stage thing. It was just too damn impossible! Eventually I picked up other games and honestly the Jimmy Neutron game was short-lived, only lasting the rest of the vacation and about a week after, but it was still fun and at the end of the game it was a good solid game.

  3. Mah Pokemans! Let me show them to you!

Yes, my guilty gaming pleasure is Pokemon. I just got a Nintendo DS, and I can’t wait to boot up Platinum (it’s all sold out around here for some reason.)

  4. The Sims 3. Everyone I know has a raging hate of Sims games. But I cant stop playing 3.

  5. Gangster Battle and Mafia Wars on Facebook 😛 , really addicting browser games.

  6. I think you all need to cancel your gamefly subscriptions. That is valuable time you could have been making the next episode of The Leet World or Web Zeroes. How selfish of you
