GamerSushi Asks: Anticipation?

lostAfter waiting for the season finale of Lost all week (don’t worry, no spoilers here), I started thinking about the idea of anticipation. You see, I was so pumped for this episode of one of my favorite shows that I literally could not stop thinking of it in the days leading up to it. It consumed every waking moment practically, and I couldn’t wait.

I think the last time I got like that over a game might have been Gears of War 2, but I think the time that I had the most anticipation for a game ever would have to be Halo 2. After a nearly 4 year gap between the two Bungie titles, the excitement had gone to a fever pitch amongst me and my friends. We waited in line for a couple of hours (with hundreds of others) in order to get our copy, and then proceeded to play it like mad over the next few weeks and months.

What about you guys? What was the most excited you’ve ever been over the release of a video game? What was the most recent time?

  1. Hmm, Left 4 Dead was pretty anticipating. But that’s the only thing I remembered of. I am excited now for HL2 Episode 3, or any other kind of valve game.

btw, I’m sooo far back in LOST. Still in the beginning of season 3 πŸ˜›

  2. every day i eagerly await the new arrival of my favroite machinima LeetWorld

my next porbably aticipation is episode 3 of half life 2 episodes

last would be dawn of war 2 im guna buy it soon when i can remember

  3. I’m not that into TV shows, but I think the last game I really couldn’t wait to come out was Fallout 3, and that was definitely worth the wait! As for right now, I just can’t wait for Prototype. It looks like it’s going to be GTA4 with superpowers, and without huge technical issues from a bad port.

  4. I remember waiting for Half-life 2 for Yeears, SPORE was another one (which WASNT worth the wait). And how about S.T.A.L.K.E.R – I can’t count how many times that game was delayed.

Now I am biting my nails waiting for Mafia 2 and Alan Wake. Cmoooon developers!

  5. Not a fan of Lost, but when the Sopranos Finale came on, I could not shut up about it the week before.

As for games, the only game I really lost my mind over was Final Fantasy VI. I so wanted that game and it actually lived up to my expectations.

prototype is said to come out 9th june thanks for reminding me i saw a clip from ages back reminded me and makes me want to buy

  7. Little Big Planet. I was so hyped from the first demonstration they showed of it. I tried super hard to get into the beta and I GOT IN! And then I bought it like a week after its launch. But now I don’t play it that much… which is sad… I guess I never really had the patience to make a level. Plus its horrible making a level on your own and its all quiet.

I’m sure I’ll get back on that game when they update it to allow online building.

LOL, just the word delayed reminds me of Duke Nukem Forever….

And it shall be delayed Forever, and Ever, And Ever……

  9. I used to watch Lost, but now I’m all hyped over Dexter (Series 3 Ep 4 over here!). Little Big Planet was a big one and I haven’t had the time to finish it. MGS4 is probably the most anticipated title I’ve ever had. Oh, and KZ2! Neither disappointed fortunately.

  10. Far Cry 2 was the last time I was excited. Total let down.

Biggest ever was probably the orange box, mostly EP2. I played it on launch. Which was like 5am for me.
