Wii: Red Steel 2 Trailer

While the first Red Steel game for the Nintendo Wii wasn’t a whole lot to write home about, the 2nd one is supposed to kick things up a notch. With the addition of Motion Plus controls and an updated art style, things are actually looking rather smooth, to say the least. I have to say that the new Red Steel 2 trailer shows some promise. I’m a big fan of the cel shaded style, though I wish these Wii trailers would actually show us more gameplay rather than dudes doing things no sane person in their right mind would do while playing a game.

  1. With the whole RED steel part of the game you might expect the sword to actually get a bit bloody… otherwise they could just call it ‘steel’ or ‘steel colored steel’

  2. I was loading up the video and it said get SD and I thought “Where’s the HD option?” Then I remembered!

  3. I hope its better, I completely agree too with the art direction of this game its the right change.

And it better have “unmatched precision control” cause sword fighting in the first one was so uncomfortable and unresponsive.

Yeah, the art style is definitely much more compelling, and some of the sword play looks pretty cool, too. It just is weird, considering the Wii was originally touted as having 1-to-1 translation of movements and such to begin with. I think this game will be much better than the first.

  5. I’m interested.
Red Steel 1 was one of my favorite games on the Wii, with its only problem being its controls during gunfights. It was easy to do the infinite scrolling glitch where you’d accidentally hold your Wiimote by the edge of the screen too much and the crossheir would get stuck and you’d have to wrestle with the Wiimote before you got control over the scrolling back, and by then you were probably dead. Now, for the swordfights, the controls were really good. Easy to use, and rarely had any glitches.
Now that they’re making Red Steel 2, I like what I see. Better graphics with a cooler style (I just hope this is actually gameplay, not just pre-rendered) and the promise of streamlined gun controls (maybe adopting Medal of Honor Heroes 2’s aiming mechanics) will make RS2 a definite buy for me.
I actually hope they have multiplayer. It’d be cool to have even just Free for All and Team Deathmatch, and maybe the creators of RS2 can come up with a unique gamemode.
Either way, I’m fairly psyched for RS2.

  6. Yeaah, I will own on that game. lol

RS2 being with wii motion plus is pretty cool. It means the sword will move anyway you move it right? Sweet.

  7. you should have to actually swing your arm or something, cause i dont know how my little cousin owns me constantly by just flicking his wrist.

I actually like the cheesy martial arts movie visuals of the first one

  8. I’d like to point out that the first was meant to have 1:1 motion so who knows what fibs they’re telling now. At least there will be 1:1. Awesome

  9. I liked the original a whole lot more than everyone else seemed to, so this is definitely on my want list, as of now.
