Ok, this is just one massive WTF bomb right here. After taking, I don’t know, about 4-5 years to make Resident Evil 5, Capcom said today that Resident Evil 6 could take up to 8 years of development time, “but hopefully only four”. Wtf? Seriously? I mean, I’m all for taking your time and making a good game, but we could be on the PS5 and XBox 1 Million by then. Arnold will be serving his re-election as President of the United States.
And Japanese developers wonder why they’re having trouble competing with Western developers these days. It’s because the rest of the gaming world is moving on while they’re stuck in molasses, I suppose.
So what do you guys think of the possibility of an 8 year wait for Resident Evil 6? Fair/foul?

That really sucks, but I would still buy it when it comes out.
If they can operate at that kind of a loss for so long, then good for them. Least they aren’t trying to do a quick cash-in, like they used to.
One problem is,Japanese dudes really want to stick to what they`ve been doing for the last 20 years.
You should see some of the toilets here, some of them are jus holes in the ground.
Well anyway, 4 years I would understand, but 8? Truly wtf. Are they going to make it so realistic, you have to put goggles to prevent zombie blood splatter on your eyes? That would be cool but, no way.
If this is going to be tru, chill out. There would be tons of DLC.
I think maybe in 4-8 yrs there wouldn’t been lame editorials about how images of shooting the natives infected in Africa are racists. Even though no one was really complaining when the Spanish were being shot in Spain.

I totally don’t think that RE5 is racist in anyway.
But there is a huge difference between the Spanish and Africans. There is a history of colonialization in Africa, white people coming over and murdering Africans, taking over their land and so forth.
That is what makes RE5’s imagery disturbing to some. Not me. It’s a freaking game. But it is different than Spain.
Say you make a game where a German goes to Japan and shoots Japanese zombies. No big deal, right?
Now set the game in Israel. Big difference, right?
well, IMO Time = Quality so and EIGHT YEAR game had better blow me the F*ck away. Oh, and there had better be DAYS worth of gameplay in the single-player story too.
FOW-UHL! What’s with Japanese developers and taking there own damn sweet time? What do they do all day, read manga? I mean really – you have Infinity Ward and Treyarch taking turns creating a new CoD every year, and each one is pretty damn awesome, and yet it takes 10 years for a mediocre Japanese fans-only game to come out. It just doesn’t add up. Plus, most Japanese games get delayed once or twice or five times.
Japan better get its act together.
Cossack, I think RE is an awesome series. Well, the last two are.
And it sold a couple million here and has a movie franchise (albeit, one that sucks) so it isn’t exactly, Japan only,lol.
I hope that its good after 8 years of waiting.
And the whole Germans shooting zombies in Israel? That would be a very bad idea.
I can see how RE5 can be taken as “racist” but its just a game.
As ever, great choice of pic. I think that they do take their precious sweet time, but if the game is good does it really matter how long it takes? Valve are taking a while with their games. When they do it it’s quality when someone else does it its unnacceptable.

Not foul. You guys don’t really have a right to be complaining over it, as much as it would suck to wait eight years. If it is going to take that long, so be it. TF2 took nine years, nobody’s really complaining much about that…
Wow. Well, maybe it will be so mind blowingly sweet that it will be worth the wait. Prob not.
Technology would change on them so many times it would be kind of a disaster.

First, I agree in that once it finally comes out, no one would complain.
I won’t complain because it will give me time to play other things in the meantime.
But we have every right to complain. At least, I do. I live in the United States and have freedom of speech. Not sure where you live, but I actually a WRITTEN right to complain. All we are doing here is asking people’s opinions.
Well. I won’t say fair or foul. But if they do the same bull that they pulled with RE5, with absolutely no innovation that couldn’t be done on the original game, sans graphics. (no offense to people who liked the game) then no thanks for the 8 year snooze wait bore get game get angry that its the same as RE4 AGAIN & go back to RE4 fest.

I prefer Russian manju, myself.
I really don’t understand why it takes them sooooo freaking long! Sure they make great games, but COD has always consistently pumped out high quality games within like 1 year of each other…I totally missed 2+3 because I couldn’t upgrade in time.
Of course you could say that japanese games have no where near as many glitches 🙂 ~ just my humble opinion

The COD games aren’t exactly very different. I am on the fence as to whether or not I am even going to get Modern Warfare 2 because I am not sure if they will be different enough.
