Prince of Persia DLC Gives Game a Proper Ending

popI’m not sure how many of you played Prince of Persia, but I’m going to give the tiniest of spoilers here, so watch out. While I won’t go into much detail, there really isn’t a true ending to the game, as everything you worked hard to do is essentially undone in the game’s “resolution”. Many people were upset about this, though I guess a few got into it and found it artsy and well done.

However, Ubisoft is going to rectify this with a DLC Epilogue that continues the events of the story, gives some new costumes and even a new power. Personally, I find this to be a little disgusting. Don’t just cut your game off short to give the real ending away for 20 bucks at a later date. I can’t stand the lengths these developers are going to nickel and dime us to death. Or technically, 10 and 20 dollar us to death, to quote Penny Arcade.

So what do you guys think? Fair or foul?

  1. Why don’t I just pay a subscription fee? I thought that by getting the PS3 I’d not have anything after the base price to pay (lest it be worthy of my monnez) but, ironically, that is the price to pay for current gen scams artists. E-con artists!

Least the PSN is free. I can’t imagine the XBOX Live people having to pay a yearly subscription and still pay for crap like this. A low blow by Ubisoft, they are losing a lot of my respect lately.

  3. Well, its better than sitting back and doing nothing, the people who want it can buy it, and vice versa.

On the PS3 issues, the next gen consoles are bending the rules of rock paper scissors. PS3 has become the crumpled piece of paper that the Xbox tears apart with some new blades. While the Wii sells a bunch of games with its new stone hammer.

  4. I kind of the idea that if game company isn’t quite happy with their game’s turnout they decide to just beef it up or resolve it with more content or just redesign their content to their liking. I’ve never really seen DLC used this often, and I really like it because who hasn’t played a game where they thought “if only it had more _________, or used more ___________!!!” (SSBB)… The next step is maybe creating multiple patches for games.

I guess since DLC’s popularity is increasing, game companies will make a much higher profit and can u blame them?
