Where Should GTA V Be Located?

gta4pcApparently, there are rumors that GTA V might drop as soon as this freaking year. While I’m not putting too much stock in these things just yet, it does bring up an interesting discussion. Will we return to Liberty City? GTA III moved to both Vice City and San Andreas, so what are the likely candidates for the next free-roaming installment?

The XBoxist has put together a list of their top 5 candidates for GTA V. They’ve got a pretty interesting breakdown as to why some of these settings would be ideal, namely Moscow, Paris, Tokyo, Hawaii and the future.

As some of you know, I’m a big fan of that last one. Also, I could see Tokyo make for a great GTA world. What do you guys think? What should the next Grand Theft Auto city be?

  1. Tokyo would be the best, the future would be the absolute worst. Also, who’s ever heard of organized crime in Paris? Are you going to rob all of their cheese and wine?

There is plenty of crime everywhere, lol.

  3. Tokyo doesn’t sound too bad. I’m getting tired of plastic American trailer trash, if you get my (Tokyo) drift.

Nice. I can see Rockstar running crazy with that. Your new avatar scares me, by the way.

I’d like to see London. Having a British gangster in Saint’s Row 2 got me in the mood for some cockney craziness. (Although you can go overboard on the accents. A game set in Moscow would be prone to that too.)

  5. Hawaii! “You bring me back two explosive coconuts, I give you control of all the hula girls you like!”

No but seriously, I also agree with Tokyo. And since Rockstar has been dying to work racing into their games, Tokyo would be a great location to do so.

  6. If wanting a plot twist, they can always go in time and create a futuristic city. Or go backwards to the 18th century, and steal horse wagons.

  7. well, seeing as ALL of them have taken place (thus far) in a make-believe part of AMERICA, I think that even if the theme is generaly based on “tokyo” they’d still have plenty of american, english speaking kids so that we hear “please dont shoot” instead of gibberish and so they can place it in, a convincing, fictional, north american world.

Aside from that, lets not forget how much GTA III ruuuled in comparison to Vice City and San Andreas , GTA IV was so righteously titled because it was the first time since III that our pants would be left undone, it was the next major leap in the franchise.. we (based on stats) can expect atleast 1 engine-clone with “different clothing, different weapons, and different hookers”.

  8. Depends, they have all been in the US. I would say Houston could be interesting, yet its so bland compared to some cities. Tokyo sounds awesome. Hmmm

  9. Not being a fan of GTA (I know WTF right?) I’m surprised I even payed attention to this. Japan. Defo. Yakuza, katanas (I like samurais) and modern day ninjas as long as they’re not like those pesky Komori in Red Stell.

  10. I wish it could be in Vancover, the one warm place in Canada. I want to wipe the smile’s off there face’s muahaha.

  12. Haha, Great video. I agree with walrusmen though, Snow and other wheather ( besides just rain ) would be really cool. Im in Canada so having snowmobiles for 1/4th of the game would be amazing.

I also miss the bikes in GTA IV, they should add Skateboards!

  13. I think that the XBoxist have a good idea with Hawaii, or even Miami again. A nice, tropical destination, along with a system that can now handle all of the bright colours would be pretty sweet.
