Video Games’ Worst Voice Acting

We’ve all been there. That painful cringe as a voice actor in a video game lets loose another putrid sound byte. While gaming has come along way in this regard, there are so many bad spots in the past that its fun to reminisce upon them, much like this video does.

I have to say, I’m glad that both FFX and the original Resident Evil ended up here. That “master of unlocking” line is brutal.

  1. Umm… while a few of the videos are cleary fakes, The Deus Ex video does not belong… Judgint its voice-overs is like looking at The Matrix 20 years from now and saying “what crappy CG!”.. The voice clips in that game were taken totaly out of context!!! ( insert sarcasm), not to mention the people were supposed to seem ( as well as sound) totaly robotic and synthetic.. i.e. DEUS EX, helllllooooooh…

    Okay, nostalgia aside!!;
    remove Deus Ex and its a great list!!

  2. Well yeah, obviously, early video game voicing is going to be as you say, Jules. Also, I think there needs to be a separation between bad voicing and bad writing (ie, Resident Evil), but even still. That Deus Ex scene made me lol.

  3. Far Cry 2 has possibly the worst voice acting I have ever seen (or should I say heard?), especially in next gen games. The lines sound rushed, and like the actors don’t know how to pause correctly.

    Hell yes! However in terms of Frank’s accent, 1 of the 3 decent Irish ones out there. We’re being properly represented there. 🙂
