PC Gaming Preview, 2009

pc-gamingI know that many of you are PC gamers, so I wanted to direct your attention over to Shacknews, where they have put together some cool lists for 2009. Basically, each one runs down a huge list of titles that are going to be hitting the PC next year, and apparently there’s a lot to look forward to.

So far, there’s not really a whole lot on my plate that excites me about 2009 in terms of the consoles I own, but looking at these lists shows that PC gaming is far from dead. Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead DLC, Starcraft II, Dragon Age: Origins, Battlefield Heroes, and not to mention the other ports from consoles. Good stuff.

Be sure to check out both part one as well as part two to get your PC gaming info. What are you guys excited about for next year?

  1. I look forward to:

    Splinter Cell: Conviction
    Mirror’s Edge
    Saints Row 2
    Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.
    BioShock 2
    New L4D + TF2 Content
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
    Duke Nukem Forever
    Pretty Much Anything by Valve

And I’m on the fence with:

Sims 3, Biggest time sucker ever.

Ghostbusters: The Videogame, Oh so many ways they could fuck this up.

Black Mesa Mod, I have been waiting for this for >2 years now but I am worried that all this hype could end up in major disappointment. Only time will tell.

  2. Looking forward to Black Mesa, and that Trine game looks like it could be fun. I’m liking the resurgence of old-style platformers lately. Quake Live might also be worth a glance. Never thought I’d see the day, but everything else is probably going straight to my 360.

  3. I’m really excited about DOW2, Project Origin, LOTR, and Mirrors Edge. Then there’s the games I want to be excited about, but probably won’t like; Empire: Total War, Battleforge (SAGA didn’t work too well…), and Sims 3. Mostly though I’m hoping that my computer won’t need an upgrade for any of these … my 8800 GTS is holding up for now, but who knows.

Surely it shows it’s DYING though? If consoles can do the same thing as PC without the need of a new graphics card every 10 minutes to display 7 more pixels on an enemiies eye then what’s the point? Half of the games on the list are either going to be on a console aswel or else are being PORTED to the PC. Well? Anyone care to answer that?
