PS3 Fallout 3 is Kind of Really Bug-ish?

I don’t know why developers feel like they can release broken versions of games (when their budgets are up and the games cost more for us), but that’s just the way things are these days. Just patch it later, right? It’s the mantra of the industry.

Anywho, all that to say that apparently, Fallout 3 for the PS3 is a bit buggy, and Bethesda’s forums are filled with complaints about freezing games, textures that don’t load, and even more.

Hopefully they can release some kind of patch to fix this in the near future, because this game really doesn’t deserve to be spoiled. I’ve been playing it some this week and so far I’m completely enthralled. While I’m not sold on the combat, I love the style, the world and the story, and it’s been great to just dive into it. Anyone else played this yet?

  1. I have it for PC and I have seen some poor object collision twice. There is one spot where I can actually walk into a building and into some solid stairs, and get back out, but that’s still poor. But to be honest unless you were trying to do it, its not something you would notice. Then I have seen some objects floating when they shouldn’t.

BUGS, yes there are a few. Iv seen a Super Mutant Bohemuth**sp somehow stand about 20 feet in the air, he promptly came back down on his next move, and several times I have gotten physically stuck (OC again)

For PC I have to get used to saving A LOT because my game will crash sometimes (mostly when hitting V.A.T.S.) or the normal Bethesda game random shutdown from an error.
Worst one so far has been that I cant play the game on ULTRA, not because my card cant handle it, it can handle it fine, but when I do the V.A.T.S. system wont work and the game gets laggy when you open it.

Still a good game, but bugs, yes they are there. But with a game so massive Im not surprised. But…where are the patches? I haven’t seen one yet…Oblivion had TONS

  2. I have to wait until Christmas to get mah grubby hands on a copy of FO3, so hopefully they’ll have done something to fix most of these problems. But do you know if the 360 version is as buggy, or more buggy, or less buggy?

  3. I’ve played this game nearly non-stop on my PC since it came out…I love it. Beat it with a Good Karma character, reloaded, still playing with him, and started a Bad character. The only bugs I’ve seen in the PC version is that companion AI kinda blows…but that not really a bug. Anywho, back to playing.

I’ve got the 360 version. There’s a few bugs, but I haven’t noticed that many.

  5. Heheh, one interesting bug I just encountered in the PC version: I shot a slaver in the leg in VATS. When VATS exited he was flung in the air and proceeded to…flip out. No better way to describe it, he just started bouncing everywhere and spinning around and just glitching out in general. I found it to be absolutely hilarious, as he was still alive and shooting his assault rifle wildly everywhere.

For those of you who have played Half Life 2, its like when you pick up someone (a ragdoll) with the phys-x gun and spin your mouse. Hilarity.

  6. ha-ish. fricken game stop gave me 18 bucks for decent games most of which are meerly barely a year old how due to this budget crisses and GS,S greedy corperate stand by id be playing fallout 3 on my 360 right now and this event completly ruined my day.

  7. game stop sucks. just like smooth few films says, welcome to gun(game) stop, want to pre order a bunch of bull shit?
