Are We Really Ready For Next Gen?

So What’s The Deal?

From studying what each console did up to this point in the generation, I think it’s fairly safe to say that we might not be ready for new consoles just yet. While Microsoft could make a case for one, in terms of its grade for the first two years, moving forward it seems like the exclusives are going to disappear.

Each generation has had that one console with an excellent 2 years in terms of its lineup of early games, and each one was heavily back ended with more classic games that came out in the long run. While the typical console life span seems to be about 5 or 6 years, each console had some kind of instant classic that left its mark on the gaming world in its first 2 years, and innumerable classics once it hit its stride.

So far, we only have a few of those with games like Gears of War, Halo 3, Mass Effect, GTA IV (overrated but still good) Metal Gear Solid 4, Twilight Princes, Mario Galaxies, and Little Big Planet. Only time will tell if more classics follow suit.

Who knows what the future will bring? How would you rate these consoles? Weight in with your thoughts as to whether or not we’re ready for a new console!
