Portal: Still Alive Released

I’m not sure how I missed this one. Portal: Still Alive was released on XBox Live Arcade today. If you’re not aware, this game includes all of the original Portal plus 14 new bonus levels. Pretty sweet deal for just a measley little 15 bucks over XBL.

The download itself is pretty huge, which people are making a big deal about, but who cares? It’s more Portal gaming goodness, and I’m pretty pleased to see that it’s finally here. I’m just surprised that it made such a small splash, news wise over the last week or so. Have people gotten over Portal so fast?

Who’s getting this?

  1. I think the big deal about the download size is that it is larger than the maximum promised by Microsoft and people who don’t have the HDD can’t play it.

But, I wish this was on PS3. Valve pisses me off with their Anti-PS3 bias..

  2. Damn.
    I never even played Portal.

Maby a good time to try it out.
    On PC though.

So why isn’t this on PS3?
    I want that to…

Makes me sad, really : (

  3. It’s probably because all the people who don’t play consoles are going ‘lol consoles suck lol you gotta pay for levels we get for free lolololol’.

  4. Im surprised its on there at all, from what I heard Valve did not want to put the orange box on consoles anywho. They were designed for PC. And did not want to port them, their doodahwhatsits, EA? pressed on them to do it.

Is it EA who publishes their games to disk? I forget.

  5. I heard about this at the E3 conference, but some how nobody gave a squeak out of it. Is ‘still alive’ have a story to connect to the Half-Life world?

  6. >:o What? No ps3 version? Damn. First no tf patches, now this? (although I have it on both pc and ps3) I just don’t think a xbox 360 is worth it. Maybe when I have a bit more spare cash.

You’ve got it on PC right Anthony? Just download the portal the flash version map pack and viola! You just got the bonus levels from portal: still alive without having to pay anything! And yeah, Valve’s PS3 hate is… strange. Now that it’s starting to sell more though, Valve may be forced to start deving for the ps3 if they plan on making anymore headway into the console market

  8. Mr. Munchlax,
No, I don’t have it on PC. I have a very low powered PC,lol, and am too cheap to upgrade to play games on it.

I wish I did, but I am a console gamer and that is where I will stay, even though I know I am missing out on a lot. As I get older, I have to be more selective.

  9. @SNOWMAN7: Still Alive is just the original with the Flash Portal map pack and a new challenge mode. The ‘story’ is still there, and does link to the HL world. Have you seen the slideshows near the end of the game?
