Fable II Creator Helps Reviewers

Peter Molyneux is a nice guy. He created The Movies, Black & White and Fable after all. And those were nice games. Molyneux is so nice, in point of fact, that he has saved game reviewers the time and effort required to review his upcoming game Fable II by reviewing it himself.

How utterly generous. And what was the score of the self review? 9/10. Ridiculous block quote to follow.

It’s the best, most complete game I’ve ever worked on. The look is perfect, the interface is fantastic. It’s a role-playing game, but where are all the f***ing icons? Aren’t you supposed to be cluttering the screen up with mini-maps and the like? Not us.

He goes on to talk about how cool RPG’s are, for which I can not find much fault. At least we don’t have to review the games ourselves now. See? Running a game blog is easy.

Did anyone play the first Fable? Are you looking forward to the sequel?

  1. Yeah, I played it and it was enjoyable, but way overhyped.

They promised so much and delivered on about half of it.

The combat was simplistic and way too easy. This is a wait and see, but I don’t really care about this game from my experience with the first one.

  2. Faults with Fable I:

    Too short

    Simplistic action

Other than that, I really enjoyed the first Fable. It had a fun story (if not exactly original) and I felt like I accomplished something when I beat it.

Anthony is right though, on the whole “promise and delivery” part. I was expecting the greatest RPG of all time and just got a pretty good one.

  3. Nothing like reviewing your own game… I think if that happened in the movie world, people would have a fit.

Like directing Disaster Movie, then reviewing and going:
“Hay guyz, this movie is epic. It’s all these horrible but funny things happening to people you knows!111

    10000/10!!1111”

    😐

  4. That game seemed like it was going to be like Oblivion (before Oblivion) but its pretty annoying you have to follow the path. I never played it and those who did didnt rant or rave about it.

  5. Yeah, Fable seemed to promise a whole lot that it never actually did give back to the players. Molyneux has mostly kept his mouth shut about Fable 2, so we’ll see what happens here.

  6. Fable was my favourite game ever, so unfortunately whatever I say will be biased. But Although this is irrelevant, I’m going to go do my work experience at Lionhead Studios, because I live 2 hours from their HQ. Is that interesting? Do I pass the quota? Can I haz points?

Wow. Just to ask, not giving you any crap, what other games do you like?

Halo 3, Oblivion, Call of Duty 4, Garry’s Mod, More Call of Duty 4.
I want to get Far Cry 2.I know it sounds weird, but something just hit me with Fable. I love that game, and I can’t really say why. It’s confusing. But then, I’m a confusing person in general, so that makes sense.
    And uh, no crap taken.

  9. YES. THAT WAS A BIG SWORD. And yes, Fable’s combat is deceptively simple, but it’s not like it’s not fun. Decapitating a guy and then kicking his head was awesome.
