Work With Sackboy

Think you’ve got what it takes to work with Media Molecule, the minds behind Sony’s new and way-too-cute game Little Big Planet? It seems that the team that created Sackboy will be watching the community for up-and-coming map and level designers, as a big piece of the game’s appeal is going to be all of the user-created content that will grace PSN once it hits.

Why would they be watching, specifically? To give you a job. That’s just how they roll.

Personally, I think this is a great idea, and something more developers should definitely take notice of. Keeping an eye on the fan community is obviously nothing new, as other developers have hired fans recently (Bioware picking up seveal machinima artists, for instance) to work on future games. But this is definitely a good practice for game makers to be involved in, since there’s so much potential talent out there waiting to be discovered, especially if they have a love for doing what it is that you already do.

What do you guys think? If there’s any game studio out there that you could work for, what would it be?

  1. Actually, it’s a lot like both of those, only you’re making levels that other players have to run through later. It really looks quite unique.

  2. I am so pumped for this and now knowing that, I will take extra care in building my levels.

If I could work for one studio, it would be Square Enix. Just b/c I love Final Fantasy and also to get them to start making male characters that LOOK LIKE FREAKING MALES!

I am a unique person, in that I have loved FF since 1990, have played all the games and I love video games and Japanese culture…BUT I HATE ANIME AND MANGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I would work there and eliminate all influences it has and get back to what makes FF great.

Unnecessary to say, please don’t judge Japan through anime or manga (I hate those kind of smudge), Japan’s great please visit some time.

  4. I’d like to work with Bungie, or Square Enix. I love Halo and I love Final Fantasy. Maybe even Blizzard. But a job that I think would be fun would being a voice in a game. It’s probably ridiculously hard to get into something like that. But probably really cool. Walk into a store with the voice.

  5. I would like to work with Lionhead Studios, or Bungie. Peter Molyneux is a legend, and Bungie is really awesome.

I didn’t judge Japanese culture. If you read what I wrote, I said I LOVE Japanese culture EXCEPT for anime and manga.

It’s all good, no hate here.

  7. Its going to be like 4 hours before we get the first “Little Big Penis” level.

If I could work for one studio, it would totally be Blizzard. I’m a WC III proud Player, and I want to get them to go back to RTS GAMES! SCREW MMO’S!

  8. Haha, totally true about the phallic levels.

I think I’d love to work for Bioware, I love the dialogue options and the stories they tell. It’d be cool to write for them.

  9. Only problem with Dialogue options is they say something, then when I pick the choice it doesn’t turn out anyway like the choice made it sound like. Sometimes they don’t even use ANY of the same words.

    It’s a platformer, like Mario.
